I was trying to figure out how I can do this very thing without being taxed for it. I don't want this money because I will have to pay taxes on it next year.
They should make it tax free as well

Send it as extra tax money in your payment to the almighty state this year. No one stops you from doing this.

Our European counterparts just delayed the inevitable. There's a reason the press hasn't mentioned Europe lately. It's because they're in the midst of a spike that puts anything going on in the US now to shame.

We did not keep our last check. We gave the money away to people we know who really needed it.

We will do the same if we get another one. People like me, who don't need it should not get it.

No one bought me then.

Pelosi and gang sure won't buy me now. But I don't trust them to do the right thing with the money either. So I'll give it to someone I know needs it. The government just throws money at people willy nilly and Democrats are the worst, we'll end up like Venezuela in a few years with the massive give aways they have promised during the election cycle.

My worry is how many state and local governments just got bailed out in this after completely mismanaging things.

How many bureaucrats who have not and now will not feel any pain out of this are going to keep getting paid because they reached this deal? They're the ones who need to be out on the streets in droves.

I agree. Even after donating the lions share of profits from my QAnon, Stop the Steal, Donald Trump merchandise business to the DNC and Planned Parenthood I’ve become obscenely wealthy. Word to the wise, if you don’t need it, give it to those that do.

I’m donating mine to the Socialist Rifle Association for their arm the poor initiative.

If you can't figure out who to give it to:

Give it away to someone you KNOW needs it. or if you are worried about taxes, give it to a charity you know is reputable, a local one like a local food bank, then write it off your taxes.

Would have been better spent on drugs

Always hope for another piddling check after a few more years of barring healthy people from working.

Our politicians have utterly failed the poor with their incompetence this year.

Are you defending them or somehow blaming people like me for these lines?

(fyi--my family had to avail ourselves of three food boxes this year (they're very healthy and good--what a blessing!). I've never had to do that before in my life. So I wouldn't presume about the members here)

I'm not pointing fingers here, matter of fact I agree with you in principle, and I should not have compared my situation to yours , but I haven't had the need of family much less government assantance, however I surely do not want to sign off on a thing that will in no way negatively affect me and mine in the near future...outside of total social collaspe.

I think I agree with you too
For those on the brink of starvation this check will indeed be a blessing.

I'm just in defensive mode for whatever reason--my apologies, Spider.

This is a really good idea.

I wrote the thread rather tongue-in-cheek, but glad to see some productive uses for that money being suggested.

Politicians all, increased covid deaths by concentrating vectors into highly trafficked big box stores.

Common sense applications were ignored, panic pants were on, and businesses are dead or dying.

I’m just looking forward to living in a brutalist architectural hell hole and waiting 6 hours in line for a loaf of bread. Because apparently that’s what happens when we get affordable healthcare and invest in education..

I'll take their six hundred dollar check. I consider it a refund for paying too much taxes over the years to the government. I was only on assistance for one month in my lire...Ran out of money waiting for my unemployment claim from out of state, it took over two months before I got paid, then got a pile of back pay. I went to the welfare office to repay them for what I got, but they would not take my money. I actually worked for that money....right at the welfare office, they offered me a job as a janitor when I was done there, but what they were paying was less than I was getting on unemployment.

According to what I read, the payment was considered as a contributing factor in keeping the cost of living increase in the social security checks down so the wife and I did not get as much of a raise this year. I guess the overall cost of living average rose more than our increase. Basically covid raised prices and they deducted the overage from our raise for a certain amount of time.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Winner! Winner!

I am of a similar mindset. Been paying taxes for 23 years now... it's about time I saw something out of it for a change. The vast majority has been the feds shaking me down and I've received f-all in return aside from not being jailed for refusing to permit them to steal openly from me.

Screw the government. It's time to milk them dry and leave them for dead.
