Not sure I understand why there is so much discussion on this topic.

What am I missing? Some private school decided to dumb their curriculum down; why do I care about this?

I mean it's not like public school system just took all the hard questions out of the SAT or ACT. If that happened I'd probably be pissed, but why is this school's actions an issue?

Personally, I think the education system in this country is really badly screwed up...from bottom to top.

From kindergarten through about 5th grade we've got what amounts to a childcare system, not an education system. From 6th grade through 12th grade we've got a system which focuses on socialist indoctrination and racial bias over actual education. A system which somehow mistakenly believes that "opportunity" must equal "results" or you change the definition of results. **SMH** And then at the top tier we have colleges who increasingly have become paper mills churning out "graduates" who are so completely unprepared for the real world it's laughable. All this to make huge bucks for nothing. Colleges where only the name matters, not the education, but colleges were indoctrination in extremist left wing ideology reigns supreme. Colleges who produce a shingle someone hangs on the wall and then think it somehow magically entitles them to be CEO of the World Universe.

If it all wasn't so tragically sad it would be comical.

That's about it but it sure triggered a lot of people.

It's a private school, they can do whatever they want, don't send your kids there if you have a problem with them.
Ah capitalism, you put the Pom poms away, they needed a wash.

They are making the SAT and ACT more reflective of curriculum in the current social justice schools though, so they are taking the hard questions out. Or you have colleges and universities choosing not to use them in their admissions process in favor of other determinations, or they weight them using racial factors.

Progressive agendas in general don't promote or reward individual achievement.

They're all about the collective.

Prizes for participation for all.

If you think one staff manifesto in one school represents all leftists, if you think leftists and progressives are the same thing, if you think there is clear statistical evidence that Biden cheated in the election, then you have nothing to worry about if high-level academic courses are abolished.

Like we get in marathons and sportifs and duathlons and triathlons, from half- to ultra- ?

The view from the finishing line is different from the view from an armchair.

Nonsense.

The graduated nature of the questions means you can't take them out.

Gold star for knee jerks though.

No one said you didn't, but we also know the left believes in double standards. Do as I say, not as I do. So you go on and compete, but you feel sorry for all those poor children in their competitions who never excel so you feel they'd do better with their participation trophies.

That's exactly what happens.

Look at all the ultra-wealthy leftists who excelled through the capitalist system who now want to abolish it because no one else should have to struggle or fail even as the same system put them where they are through their own efforts.

I'm smart. I used those high level AP classes, but now I feel bad for the kids who won't make it into them. So let's just not have them so no one feels bad.

And before you chide me about my "armchair" again, you're talking to a lady who competes at the martial arts in her 40s.

yet....

And if it was a private college you'd get the same ambivalence, their business, their call.

You are missing the point

Participation trophies in running to encourage physical activity is not the same as saying "Exams are racist", "Abolish the ACT", "Math is racist" and 2+2=5.

Spot the difference.

Better yet, prove your "woke-ism" by driving a 5 ton truck on a bridge made of two pylons each capable of supporting 2 tons....

No, I get the point, it's a private business, they don't have to adhere to your feels.

No not about private business, you don't get the point, that's OK, some people are like that.

No, this is a private business and you have a bug up your ass about it, most moralists behave like you.

Again, not about morals or private business.

You are unable to get the point, clearly, the same way some people can't do math or physics.
It's OK

Yeah, it does. A private business is doing something you don't like and you're triggered. You're trying to convince us otherwise but that's what it boils down to, a moralist upset that people are doing something that they disagree with. Go ahead, be outraged, it's fun to watch.

You really have to ask yourself, when is all this going to reach a point where the common good and common sense of people will boil over and we will all say ENOUGH?

Abolishing high-level academic courses by 2023 if the performance of black students is not on par with non-blacks. I am sure this will catch on in the Public system with their PC teachers union soon.

Lift everyone up and not bring everyone down maybe?

It's not just in private business though. In certain school districts like NYC where they have highly successful high schools open to those who pass and excel on the entrance exams -- highest scores get in -- they're wanting to weight the scores to reflect social justice because not enough black and brown kids get in to those schools which are majority Asian and then second group white with others added in.

So it's racist.
