This is so true both sides could give a # less about the struggles of the lower and middle classes. The likely reason is the refusal to back this is because somebody didn't scratch his back on some pork belly bill for his constituents some time back. 600-1200 don't really make a difference, especially if they continue to lockdown and restrict. Hell even if they stop all restrictions now the damage has been done to so many industries.

If we are looking at another 4-5 month stretch, there will be a serious need for monthly assistance and/or debt mortgage and rent forgiveness. This is why so many on here never wanted to go down the lockdown road, hell I was wrong I thought to give them 4-6 weeks and we will be back in business. Now the government needs to do something to turn this crap around and all they are talking about is a "dark winter" well guess what it's been a damn dark spring, summer and fall already for millions.

When you look at the fund's other countries give for their citizens it's obscene compared to the US. LOL and dammit half of those we probably send money to every year.

First off, it wasn’t a proposal from the dems or pelosi. It was a proposal from another gop representative that they do a unanimous vote to provide the stimulus. Secondly, we don’t have decades of increased tax policy. We have decades of tax breaks and decreases on the wealthy, which directly and obviously becomes decades of increased debt....to those very people who got the tax breaks. Because that’s how that works. The wealthy elite get a tax break, the deficit increases by that amount, the government then borrows that money back from the wealthy in the form of bonds and pays them interest for it.

Keeping in mind that about every single other western industrialized nation has been paying all their people monthly wages other than us.

Also keeping in mind that the fed has subsidized the wealthy elites profits to the tune of 8 trillion they’ve dumped into the market.

It’s weak government policy that allows them to have the freedom to exploit as much as they want, dodge paying the social costs of their market model, and leave if they aren’t kowtowed and placated. These freedoms of theirs could all be taken away with laws. Very few people wanted the lockdown. I doubt anyone wanted to abandon their businesses, and it did not take long for mom and pop businesses to see the handwriting on the wall. There was no room in the inn for them from the very begining.

If people believed the government was protecting them, and cared about them, I think the majority of the believers have awakened from that lie.

The issue is where do we go from here? It is not like it was in the past, where family was within a days walk from each other, and the majority of us lived off the land, and could grow and barter our way through the winter.

Few people are expecting the government to rescue them. Most people know our government is corrupt, and have no interest in rescuing us. The problem is not what we know, it is what we don't know.

For several decades we have been groomed to be greedy, selfish, and entitled. There was a reason that community was important. I don't care how independent, well armed, or clever you are, you can't go it alone.

You have to sleep, you have to eliminate your waste, and you can't be in two places at the same time. Without community you won't last long.

So we are going to have to be more proactive and we have to work together.

Both types of stimulation would help with economic recovery however the stock market made new highs this week and the banks are in great shape, Chase stock jumped 5% in value the last trading session.

The struggle for many folks not protected by the Federal Reserve policy by stark contrast is becoming critical!
Renters for example are struggling, with 29% of black renters behind on their rent and facing an end to the moratorium on evictions. This has a trickle up effect for landlords with mortgages many of whom have already exhausted their first 180 day forbearance period for non payment of mortgages.

Human nature is the problem. We like to think the majority of people are good. It's not true unfortunately. The majority of people simply haven't been in a position to rape their countrymen and be certain they will get away with it. Overwhelmingly, just look at Omar, pelosi, or AOC and the millions they have funneled in tax funded legislation to members of their immediate families but show outrage about the idea of that in general. That false secure feeling belief has perpetuated and along with the Enlightenment's bringing unquestionable value to every human life it has all made man the spineless sissy of the animal kingdom grabbing our ankles and smiling as we invite KNOWN bad people to have at it and we don't even make them give a courtesy spit before commencing. The French Revolution actually changed the system and why!? Those Senators and congressmen are nowhere near a food line trying to feed their kids with can food or whatever they can get.

None of them will lose sleep over a small business going down or having to pay their rent.

We go to the streets over political wrangling, the people of all political stripes should hit the streets and force these stupid politicians to do what's right.
