Maybe the anti-life party can just start killing people, ya know...less mouths to feed?

But $600 or $1200 is a slap in the face after destroying the economy the last 9 months, we should be getting $1200 a week.

That’s the problem, they aren’t smart enough to realize how much they screw themselves day to day. OP complains about the tax cut, but wants a one time stimulus? Please explain!

I think the point was about deficits and "conservative" thinking.
It's OK to increase the deficit with a tax cut but not with pandemic relief?

Yeah I got a little bit out of the tax cut. I think the Kochs (and Trump) probly did a lot better with it.

Anyone here going to have to pay back their "bonus" for the cutback on FICA withholding? Or was your employer smart enough to figure out how stupid that was?

Funny how Nancy didn’t care about the people until after the election.

You know that McConnell has been sitting on the House bill for very many months? Wouldn't even talk about it.

Allowing the goobermint to shut you down was a mistake. People should have told the government to shove their illegal shutdown orders up their ass. You ceded your power to earn a living to them in allowing it to happen. Now you gotta beg daddy goobermint for an allowance.

Complains about the tax cut but wants the stimulus? Lmao, they both equal about the same except the tax cut continues year after year.

Tax cuts go on as long as the current govt wants, or doesn't. Hardly something that will continue year after year.

Anyway, Pelosi f'd everybody around on this a while back..she is a sociopath, if you watch her interview, can't remember with who. Explaining her..um..stance, talking about how it's only the D that feeds people..WTF!!! what a slimy bitch!

I know because lord knows that we had all those starving government bureaucrats in failed states to pay for ... No bailouts for mismanaged state. Pretty simple.

If you're cutting your taxes, then you should also cut your spending to compensate. If we had a functioning Congress that actually did budgets these days ... maybe.

Here's wacky idea, stop the lock-downs and government doesn't have to argue about how much of a pittance they give us.

Damage of 2020 is done, my friend. We're seeing the here and now needs of businesses shut down WHILE STILL EXPERIENCING A FEDERAL BAN ON EVICTIONS AND FORECLOSURES. When the lockdowns end and the federal bans expire, we will see the real economic disasterpiece that many of this nations governors and mayors assaulted freedom and liberty with. This $1200 per person is a "you need this to buy food and/or help Christmas at least exist in your household after spending so many months being prevented from working" payment. It's a drop in the bucket for folks who have spent 2020 without a paycheck and with suspended monthly rent and mortgage payments compiling and just waiting for a greenlight for demands for collection.

Mark my words, when the lockdowns are lifted the bill that will be due is going to stagger this entire nation. The majority who sat with their thumb in their mouth begging to be locked down for their own protection will realize what the price tag of collective cowardice and petulance is and they're going to openly bemoan ever having succumbed to that weakness while simultaneously begging the government to save their asses.

Did the Republican Senate put the cart before the horse?

Or are they Conservative in name only?

Funny how socialism is demonized so much in America but is a privilege of the ultra-wealthy.

Who coincidentally I’m sure spend a lot of money funding things that demonize it for regular people.

Huh.

Isn’t that sort of like Democrat politicians and pundits bankrupting and locking down their states but then going to 5 star restaurants disobeying any and all “orders” they deem necessary for the masses. They claim socialism is the way to make everyone “equal” but they themselves exempt themselves from it.

The top 5% of Americans pay 60% of taxes. The bottom 50% pay negative taxes after all the kickbacks, subsidies, "refunds", and payments for their votes are paid out to them.

Not real sure how in the hell you can claim the wealthy are privileged by socialism with a straight face considering ZERO facts back up that nonsensical statement. Reducing someone's tax rate isn't the government giving them money. It is the government stealing less of their money. By your logic, if a thief breaks into your house and only steals half of your prized jewel encrusted cod piece collection, then the thief gave you the half they left behind.

Yep. Take away 37% of 1,000k and that leaves quite a chunk of cash.
Slide it on down the scale, and it can start to hurt.

...which politicians are entitled to take away and use to ensure they continue to be voted for because of why, exactly?

The politics of taxation and redistribution are conflicts of interest, Phage. There should be no income tax. All taxation, to remain fair and avoid conflicts of interest, should be restricted entirely to consumer taxes and arguably reasonable property taxes paid for at the time of purchase only. (the idea of property ownership in the USA is a joke with annual property taxes... )

So declare income tax illegal and don't pay them. What could go wrong?
