A long time ago.

Rainman was shot in sequence and during a writers strike so there was no last minute polish for dialogue. So it has that filmed from an outline and storyboard feel to it. The parts in Cincinnati and in Vegas obviously have more story and polish, the road scenes less so. This in turn does give it a grittier feel similar to Easy Rider as that was also shot in a similar manner.

You can feel that same element in Blair Witch Project, with the hiking and camping scenes. Only with Blair Witch, the actors had to improve their characters as very little was discussed beforehand. The stick triangle dummies. A mask in a tree (which did not make it on screen in focus) of the witch (or a person dressed as the witch) as the camera pointed up at a tree. Was an error by one of the actors (Josh maybe) that turned out better as not seen than seen. Even Josh being “taken” was a random choice that the other two were not told about. They just woke up to find him missing.

The technique can give a more realistic vibe or it can just be pure cheese. Plan 9 From Outer Space, Manos Hands of Fate, basically most B Level Horror Movies to be honest all suffer from ad libbed scripts.

That lil manlet epitomizes napolean syndrome. I never really understood why people found him good looking, I think it was probably his money and being on the idiotbox that got the tingle. Then again I am not gay, so I never really see why people think any dude is attractive. It isn't in my brain to comprehend.

I don't particularly like him. In-fact the last movie I saw was LA Confidential years ago.

Alpha male, I don't know anything about that

An angry man...yes

We know that here sweety.

It explains your political ideology and all of your posts.

Meanwhile in America, real women are looking for a real man.

They are in incredibly short supply in America.

Most of the male action figures in Hollywood are now gay, for instance.

Welcome to the left's dream of America.

You know that's very true. You just may have identified why I didn't like that movie. It did have a weird vibe or feeling to it in some parts.

The story was okay...a good story...it got better at the casino parts

The mudpit is thataway. Ps - a lot of those "alpha males" turn out to be... well just ask Cary Grant or Rock Hudson. Or Tab Hunter. Or Raymond Burr. Or Cesar Romero. Or... perhaps your hangup is something you need to work on. Or better yet, you do you, and let others do them... like conservatives used to say (although never practiced).

lol! I though the first mission impossible was at best passable as entertainment. Not a great movie, but it wasn't bad. In the end its just entertainment. You know! Make believe.

Also from the vid, sounds that Tom Cruise wasnt wearing his mask while going off on his little tangent about wearing masks. Who know how many or how much covid he infected by doing that. I think everybody should wear a mask. It makes them all look so much more cooler.

I thought it was Paul Newman who was the racer guy

Him and Cruise. Newman is respected though. Don't forget Steve McQueen.

Tom Cruise is NOT one of the cool guys. What a great lifestyle back then in F1 Gran Prix Monoco. 24hr LeMans sports car endurance racing is my favourite though.

I know its freaking hilarious how all fall so fast over something as fake as the covid. A few years ago, they all thought they would be around forever. But in reality, its all just silly stuff. Its like the heavyweight champion of the world getting knocked out by a gust of wind from an open window.

They are all quite literally, unnecessary. Aint no business like show business eh.

For every thing there is its season in the sun. Maybe all these political people need to take a lesson from this covid stuff. Starve the beast. Unplug, unsubscribe, quit feeding the nonesense. Then maybe they can all finnaly shut up about there favorite political mascot or team.

Yeah, MI was a decent entertainment flick...not great. I liked the scene of him smashing out the window.

And Jon Voight, a great actor, the scene on the back of the train where he acted with an expression is memorable.

Actually, this is the same mask I wear sometimes.

HUH?

Anybody that tells you they know whats up and what the future brings is full of #.

And Hollywood? Well, there track record for predicting the future hasn't been all that great, if they could predict the future. Well they wouldn't be going out of business and Tom Cruise wouldn't be screaming at people for not wearing cloth dippers on there face.

So much for insider info eh? Your chances of finding out whats in the future are about as good as throwing chicken bones on the ground and divining the future from that, and that is about as accurate, possibly would be more accurate then would be the crap that comes out of Hollywood.

In the end, there job is to entertain.

Cant expect much from them beyond that.

Newman was great.

In the Color of Money, he was outstanding and in The hustler.

I'm not a racer but used to be a great nine-ball shooter.

I don’t know if you guys know anything about pool hall culture.

I do.

Martin Scorsese made Color of money with Cruise and Newman and it was one hell of an authentic movie all the way down to the music.

I thought Brian De Palma's 1996 original was a mess, the first sequel from John Woo in 2000 even worse, but things slowly improved with the others from 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2018. Ironically, I think 'MI: Fallout' (2018) is one of the best action movies ever made. If you're in the mood for that kind of thing, of course, ie a temporary escape from the Trials Of Reality.

There are movies from all over the world catering for every mood, every taste, and even for the likes of your good self, Galad, although you earlier admitted a strong distaste for movies and fictional Entertainment from the age of 15 and, ergo, presumably drama itself.

Bloody Greeks, eh? What were they thinking of 1000s of years ago?

To each their own, though, of course. Personally, I think each year presents a range of excellent films, whilst many others are appalling, but probably in no greater ratios than 100 years ago, even during the Silent Era.

Well, you cite a bunch of Hollyweird gays as being typical alpha males, but your survey group is somewhat skewed by the fact these men lead dual fake lives, always mindful tp portray themselves as something they are not...sort of like Tom Cruise.

It's just as insincere as taking examples from a pool of actual macho men like astronauts, hockey players and law enforcement. Who was that famous gay race car driver...? There wasn't one.

Oldman rarely puts a foot wrong, does he?

By the way, if you haven't seen the political drama, 'The Contender' (2000), give it a shot - Oldman is quite astonishing in it (having also produced it); oh, and Jeff Bridges isn't too bad as the President. Not a GREAT film, but a great performance from Gazza.
