Rockefeller Museum:

Original face of the Great Sphinx ?

What appears to be a headdress begs the question.

I think the mask could represent a bird.

Exactly what I was thinking, two eyes above a beak.

Thats really cool-I wonder what the 2 little holes are for?
Maybe for hanging on a wall,or some other missing part of the mask would hang from the holes.

Not sure about the image from the rockerfeller museum-It looks fake, too alien like.
It looks like a film prop.
The only sources I could find on that all seem to relate to a UFO website and an interesting yet very far out tale about an Egyptologist called Sir William Petrie who it is claimed found alien artefacts at ancient sites in Egypt.

alien-ufo-sightings.com...

That one seems bogus to me.

But the first mask looks legit

It looks exactly like the alien in the classic 80’s movie E.T. If it’s genuine which I really doubt then that is fascinating!

Hi all. Cool thread.

This isn't the only intriguing mask ornament found at Solnitsata. My mother is one of the archeologists who has worked on the site and is currently studying the region (both geographically, and period-wise).

I will check if she has more photos that she is allowed to share but I have seen and actually touched these.

I always thought E.T. looked similar to one of da vinci’s grotesque heads.

Impressions on the artifacts you were able to personally handle?

Being a person of arts myself (sound-related mostly), and also being quite earthed in terms of prefering facts and logic than fiction and pareidolia - I really can't tell if this was an expression of creativity, if these have a metaphorical meaning or it is literally a thing that people saw.

Knowing "woo" from close hand (didn't see beings, fortunately or not lol) and that it is a fact and not fiction (current day's woo is tomorrow's knowledge, I hope), I do not discount any of these but am (as usual) most skeptical about the third option.

Having said that, they are pretty cool, and to actually touch art 5,000 years old is cool on itself.

Here's a cool masked figurine from Kurdzhali, Bulgaria -

I asked my mother and was sent this and then 2 more photos, but I can't share the other 2 unfortunately. They are as intriguing as the figurine in the OP though.

Another one from the archeological museum in Vidin, Bulgaria -

ETA - My mother specializes in uncommon burial rituals from the Neolithic period, most of these are from said period.

Call me crazy, but that looks like a carved Megalodon shark tooth, not clay.

You would think what you choose to eche in stone would be of importance back then.

But then again never under estimate the creativity of man.

These could be fictional characters for entrainment even back then

Your not crazy.....it’s a great candidate for one.... of course the carver could have trimmed it up....taking some off the top...yep, If anything the tooth could have been the model for the sculpted piece. It’s certainly possible....

If it can fit in the palm of a human hand, it isn’t a mask

Let me get my joke out of the way first..

Don't know about the first picture however the second looks like a quasi alien/Bulgarian butt plug. Who knows? those alien anal probes can get messy.

Crazy archaeological finds recently the ancient wall paintings and now this. I believe there was way more to our ancient ancestors than people want to admit. Too many pictures and artifacts in widely dispersed areas have these same "alien" characteristics to be ignored as coincidence. Just the what if? story of the Anunnaki is a fascinating theory. We have so many mysteries in today's world it's short-sighted to dismiss ancient theories off hand.

Firm believer to know where we are going we got to know where we have been

That dinky red thing? Really? A buttplug? Ha! .........Amateurs....

That one from the Rockefeller Museum reminds me A LOT of the San’Shyuum(aka prophet of Truth’s species) from Halo. Has someone been playing too many video games, because that one seems too “on-the-nose” to be real.
