(Reuters) - Moderna Inc said on Monday its experimental vaccine was 94.5% effective in preventing COVID-19 based on interim data from a late-stage clinical trial, becoming the second U.S. company in a week to report results that far exceed expectations.

Although I am wary of vaccines, it should be noted that if the economy isn't stabilized and the world goes through another round of prolonged lockdowns, entire economies face collapse and social implosion is a real threat in many areas.

How could one determine long term side effects?

I imagine this vaccine will cause an explosion of cancer some time in the future, and everything BUT the vaccine will be blamed for it.

if you take the shot, you have a 99.8% chance of not dying from the rona. So take the shot.

With a disease with a 98% recovery rate, where up to 70% of the population is expected to have it without being aware they have it, it would not be surprising for a saline injection to have the same results.

well i have been studying the trials funny thing is they will want every one to get vaxed never mind the MILLIONS who already have resistance .

UMM like me (((very likly I cant get it as I was exposed for weeks got a slight fever one day lasted a hour or two .

The person who had it spent almost 4 days sick about like the flue ( but did get vertigo which is taking a while to go away .
My sons girl got it she is compromised took her around a week and a very short stay in hospital .

But IN no way does that mien is the no big deal ats and Trump said it is . ATS loves saying how the flue kills people fact is this is worse maybe only as bad as the Spanish flue but enough .

Anyway back to vax . Problem is vax only works on one type and this has alest two very bad types as is also virus change fast in the next 3 years it WONT BE one vax it will be 3 or 4 or even 5 .

Playing the Numbers any one can GO full bor deadly ( reason enough to stop it before it can . )

Or maybe it will just die out like the Spanish flue how many rolls of the dice before we get snake eyes ?
One day it will be a rock from space or a solar flare or a Super nova or a ice age or a green house or a virus .

But one thing is true ALL of that happened and earth still spinning as for Humans every thing changes we go the 100 MILLION years old rex had who knows what we will be .

This “vaccine” is probably just a placebo. Fake vaccines for a fake virus.

Nobody knows how long the vaccine will work. Every vaccine company openly states there is no way to know how long the vaccine will be effective.

Also note - for the two shot vaccines the first and the second shot have to be from the exact same manufacturer. The 2 step COVID vaccine is going to be challenging to administer as indicated given supply and demand issues.

All that being said - Moderna has more experience with the nanoparticle lipid delivery system being used by some vendors to deliver the SARS COV 2 mRNA...they developed the technology. I’m still tracking the success of the old school “inactivated virus” vaccines that are in phase III trials. If I am getting a newly designed and manufactured vaccine I would much rather get it via an old school vaccine delivery technique.

I haven’t seen any of these vaccine trials including children. Odds are schools won’t mandate the vaccines for kids until they have been extensively trialed on the adult population.

I don't think I'll be taking any vaccine using genetic material (mRNA), no thanks.

Don't forget that the COVID test is at least 50% reliable. So at least we can be sure we might or might not have it in the first place.

Just a quick question, is this going to be a yearly inoculation like the flu jab or is it a 'true vaccine' in that it will give you life time immunity say like polio?

Oh and I'm also assuming the Gates Foundation will have a financial interest in this with Moderna like they did with HIV.
Given that I read somewhere that the gene sequencing of the Corona has an AIDS/HIV 'thing' in it and ModeRNA specialise apparently with RNA sequencing for immunity.....well you know what I'm getting at.....

Tell them to make a vaccination for AIDS while they're at it.

The goal of the vaccine to to kill the transmission. Once that dies out, the length of vaccine effectiveness becomes moot. That virus will no longer exist on the planet just like MERS-Covid died out and vanished from the planet.
