Minneapolis city council members voted Friday to narrowly approve nearly $500,000 in additional funds for the city’s police department to go toward the hiring of 20 to 40 officers from outside police forces.

City council members voted 7 to 6 to approve the $496,800 in funding for Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) to bring in personnel from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department and Metropolitan Council/Metro Transit Police, despite a reported history of disagreements between police and city officials over whether doing so would be an appropriate use of the money.

so much for Defund the Police.

funny how they do that just after the Presidential election.

did any city actually close or reduce their police forces this year?

Portland PD didn’t get reduced, even thought they said they would. Officers are just taking more donut breaks — because prosecutors won’t do sh!t. You know, like PROSECUTE for egregious legitimate crimes.

Whelp, think I know where the next wave of riots will be slated to kick off from.

< snicker >
I do appreciate the P/A coin purse kick they just gave Antifa & BLM, though

Defund the police was just a stupid slogan.

Crime goes up, police get more money. Crime goes down, police get more money.

And so it goes. Hopefully one day we can find additional solutions to our problems.

So long as one day, we're not so retarded as to think, "Let's send social workers to a gun fight instead!"

Yeah, that's the stupid sentiment right there. Not every call requires a cop with a gun. We still need cops with guns. But not always. That can be sorted.

So what happened to the million they took away?

Takes a million, then gives back 500,000. Does anyone keep track of these funds?

Edit: How about taking that missing 500k to rebuild Minneapolis instead of taxing the rest of the state to rebuild what the idiots destroyed.

Typical short term memory

Biden is eyeing fellow nutjobs who will punish Minneapolis officials for working against lawlessness.

I can't believe that anybody in a law enforcement career would go anywhere near that city or any of the others that pulled this crap. Seems like whatever they offer in compensation wouldn't be worth putting life, liberty and reputation on the line.

I'd rather flip burgers.

They already have Antifa Brownshirts engaging in vigilante crusades. This was the next step in the game, start hiring Brownshirts to be official law enforcement. Those are the people that will want to work there to bring "justice" to Minneapolis.

They aren't given a choice. Either face termination or work in Minneapolis. They're drawing in law enforcement from other counties.

They aren't rehiring, no recruits. So they take law enforcement from neighboring counties, where scumbags are fleeing to, to protect their own asses while we're left caring for their baggage.
