Yep. That's exactly how it feels. I clicked it BTW. Now NJ has at least 2 of us.....hahaha !

Probably the only 2.

Surely its about personal integrity and voting in line with your convictions.

At the last General Election here in the UK I voted for a local Independent because I know him to be a man of honour and his manifesto was more in line with my opinions than the other candidates.
The alternative would have been to vote for one of the two major party candidates - essentialy the least worse option, and that doesn't sit comfortable with me.

If you think Libertarian candidates have no chance at present perhaps you could get involved more in promoting future candidates and their policies.
Get involved and work for change.

I'm not quite sure actually. That would be interesting to know and see though.

I had a feeling you were libertarian. I always secretly liked most of your posts.

You got me when you said "man of honor". That's what we need. Well, could be "woman of honor" too.

You didn't waste your vote. The libertarian party received the most votes this year in its history. Although you could just assume that's because there are more people now.

I prefer to assume that, thankfully there are still voters with honor and principals who don't let their ideology get in the way of their common sense.

Left leaning libertarian here, but I don’t like the party as it stands. It’s funded by Koch money and Peter Theil. The same people who wrecked the Republican Party.

I align with their social views. Drug legalization, personal freedom, the only thing I don’t align with is their ideas of the role government should play in our lives. I don’t completely disagree with them, but it seems those views are being manipulated by the aforementioned donors to shape the party into something that benefits them, and not the common man. That’s my only worry. That they’ll eventually turn into the Republican Party 2.0.

Sadly I don’t think it’s possible for a political party to get big enough to matter without selling out to the people that corrupt political parties.

If you want to discuss it more with libertarians from all sides of the spectrum come on over to: www.reddit.com...

No one’s opinion is censored, there’s left leaning libertarians, right leaning ones, and every shade in between. It’s a good time.

Nice thread... I'm an Independent individual voter myself. I find no need to be a part of a party. I vote for President based on the individual running. Kinda like I ride my Harley... I don't need to belong or pretend to be a Hells angel. I can and do enjoy the ride all by myself 😁

I just went to that reddit you posted. You're right, it has all colors and flavors. Don't like all of them but I like to see everybody can speak freely without getting threatened or attacked.

The problem is libertarians have no chance in hell of winning Presidential races. In fact, the libertarian vote all but screwed up this election. I more identify with libertarians but you cannot waste your vote voting for the libertarian candidate for President.

I think that may change very soon. It seems the left is imploding. Everyone saw it coming, but it's happening rather quickly.
There are some really, really stupid nutty, crazy lefties who want socialism and more power. Then there are a whole bunch of rather normal folks who claim to be "democrat" due to not wanting to be "republican". (If you are a republican, you are far right, racist, and hate women except for sammiches and sex)

So the normal folk will need a place to hang out. The Libertarian's are putting up a nice tent. If those two things were to recognize each other, something wonderful could happen. We could have a 2 party system, with a radical group of idiots to laugh at who think they are a "third party". We could even let them think they are legitimate and have a shot.

We could call them Democants.

The one thing that I don't quite agree with is the lack of regulations. I want less government (actually none at all would be nice) but people are corrupt, and certain things really do need regulations.

You want no Government, but regulations applied to industries.

Who sets the standards of the regulations? Who are they answerable to?

I would suggest what is required, in all countries, is a Government of the people for the people. Instead of a stupid election stunt every 4 or 5 years (U.K) where we get to decide which half of the turd sandwich we prefer.

The U.K has always been ruled by elites, and that isn’t changing anytime soon.

The U.S are ruled by the same elites, only with a natural U.S citizen as its mouthpiece.

A country is easier to manipulate, if they can get at least half the population on their side or indeed almost an entire country by default.

And that’s the whole thing. We shouldn’t live in and discuss things in a place where only one side is represented. There’s no incentive to learn.

And that sub is probably the least censored place on Reddit. All opinions are welcome. I think you’ll find most people there despise the federal government in general, regardless of who they are calling out at the moment.

This ^^ No regulations would be ideal, but reaching the turning point of not needing them hinges on people doing the right things on their own FIRST to prove we're There. I'm no fool, we're nowhere close to being able to toss the legal end out & rely on good faith alone yet.

Same thing with Open Borders, frankly. These two points are about the only points we can nod and agree aren't likely to become reality any time soon.

You've picked a good party to align with, we're pretty good at working across isles to find amicable compromises to work with. And we don't throw #fits when we don't get our way politically, either. We're sure of our party ideals, but we're also sure there's always a Middle Ground Option to offer others. I find it eye-roll worthy that people think that's a sign of weakness. No, it's a sign of competent diplomacy, even here at home we need that.

We used to have a lot less regulations and the world was more enjoyable when we were young. I found that more laws and regulations are only an excuse to take more money from us, the people.

Here in NJ slingshots are illegal, when I was young, every kid had one. Just an example.

No, you misunderstood what I meant, but maybe that was my own fault. I was specifically referring to the elimination of all regulations, wholesale. We still can do away with many redundant or illogical ones, and I really wish we'd get cracking on it. We're just not at the point of being able to fully junk all 100% of them yet.
