Many Places Hard Hit By COVID-19 Leaned More Toward Trump In 2020 Than 2016

Support for President Trump increased in 2020 in many of the U.S. counties that lost lives at the highest rate to COVID-19, according to an NPR analysis.

Of the 100 counties with the highest COVID-19 death rates per capita, 68 had a higher proportion of votes cast for Trump this cycle than they did in 2016. This includes both Republican-leaning counties and counties that supported Joe Biden.

"It's surprising to see that the president surged compared to 2016 in the areas that have been hit the hardest by the pandemic," says Thad Kousser, a political scientist at the University of California, San Diego.

I don't know what to make of this analytical fact. Maybe nothing at all.

The headline suggests that victims of Covid-19 where not put off by the accusation that Trump mismanaged the covid response.

Or perhaps they disapprove of the way the Democrats kept invoking the memories of their lost loved for political gain.

Or maybe Covid-19 attacks the same people Republicans do..

Man, they had to be moving to keep up with the vote. There is no way they could have planned for some of his areas of demographic increase. They had to be sloppy.

Basically tells me that folks know damn well he's not a medical miracle wizard, and cannot control strangers at will, either. The former is common sense (no politician promising to "solve" covid ever will deliver) and the latter is part common sense, part not being a lording prick (the phrase "MAKE ME" comes to mind -- many understand it's futile after that)

It could be as simple is that they agreed with his lackadaisical approach.
And paid the price with illness and death.
People can be stubborn despite being surrounded by evidence .
Cognitive dissonance, like smokers.

Well it could just be that Trump surged everywhere all over the country regardless of Covid-19 being a factor, and the real voter turnout was closer to previous years than the "record" turnout you apparently had.

Biden lucky to get 50m votes after audit in my opinion.

Or maybe I'm wrong and people came out in droves to vote for Biden due to his raw animal magnetism.

It's funny because it seems to be Trump supporters are more likely to be Q believers, anti maskers or Covid deniers, so this makes perfect sense.

Or maybe and, let's face it, more likely is the fact that people voted for Biden in droves because he isn't Trump? Same as in 2016 people voted Trump because he wasn't Killary. It's not hard to figure out. Hell, people are partying in the streets because he's been voted out!

BS its dag gone flu season. COVID is a giant joke, sounds scary and convincing. I knew they would use COVID during flu season. Which is funny because you never hear about the flu nowadays.
