It's quite extraordinary. For a Guy who was basicly made fun of by all in his primary run, who then chose the biggest of the primaries losers to be his running mate, and really didnt have any kind of message other than "I'm not Trump" to do that well is shocking.

When you factor in his age, and his obvious mental decay, for him to be the most voted for president in history? Wow.
He must really be something special.

Or maybe the sheer unbridled hate for Trump is just that strong.

For a president to have garnered so much hate and ill will, while having really done nothing particularly bad during his term is quite something in it's own right.

It's made for one hell of a spectacle that's for sure. Now we get to see if Biden can live up to the expectations you'd have for the most voted for president in history.

The next 4 years will seemingly be the best this country has ever seen.

Personally, I think we've made a terrible mistake.

That just means the Democrats didn't look at their candidate objectively. All that mattered to them was that their candidate wasn't named Donald Trump. Its not fraud for an entire group of people to make their choice based on tribal emotion...

... if it was Trump wouldn't have gotten nearly as many votes he did eather and we would have a third party president right now.

Why can't the explanation be that while Donald Trump was whipping up his base and causing unprecedented voter turnout to happen. He was also equally whipping up his opposition and they to turnout in unprecedented numbers.

This explanation doesn't require actions from Joe Biden; he could have sated in his basement the entire election... He could have been found guilty in a court a law for pay to play in the Ukrainian... and still Donald Trump's opposition, who claimed for years "blue no matter who", still would have shown up to vote for who ever was on the ticket opposite from Trump.

Than what we have seen is a country that is equally and very deeply devided. The blues eked out a few more votes over the reds this time in the presidential race. Next time, assuming the devide continues, the reds might ek out a few more over the blues.

You could be right. Maybe JUST ENOUGH of them got angry and went out to vote for Socialism, Black Lives Matter, RIots, and selling out your political influence to the highest bidder.

In fact, that does sound much more right than the "miracle" aspect I presented.

It does sound more right to me; your explanation requires a lot more work to believe. The simpler explanation is often the correct one.

The country is equally devided over Trump and the results should that. In battle ground states it was close and the Democrats with their disruption (but not illegal) to the electoral process had a slight advantage and eked out rhe wins.

think about what it would take to have states with millions of voters, millions, and it comes down to the choices of less than a thousand people in some locations. And again, nobody knew how many Trump supporters were out there, as it turns out, a sh!t load. But there was just enough of those who hate him. Just enough.

The Christmas miracle would be Trump still being our prez in late december.

And the election finalized.

Fingers crossed.

he received more votes than any US president in US history.

Untrue he got the 2ed highest. Biden got the highest.

Don't forget there are many many millions more people living and voting now than in the past.
because of population increase any future politicians running for office are going to have higher numbers.

Say what?

According to biden 200 million folks died of covid and most of them were voters.

That would decrease the population.

Yeah I know your vote went toward an a man that cant tabulate basic numbers in his head I am sorry for you.

There was prolly a kid in the front row that distracted the hair up his legs.

edit on 7-11-2020 by tinktinktink because: (no reason given)

I used to look at this country and the things happening here and joke that there really is a Twilight Zone.

I'm not so sure it's a joke any more.

I think I'd be just fine with that. I'm pretty much done with our 2 parties.

Hell at this point, I'd be ok with putting all 350 million names in a giant hat and choosing our next president that way.

Not if the left has any say about it. They're already writing panic articles about how he's not out of the White House already. Oh, and he has a big impenetrable fence outside the place too (nevermind the fiery but mostly peaceful rioters parking outside the place trying to treat him like Khaddafi was treated in Libya).

You fail to realize that Trump not only mobilized his base he also mobilized those who can't stand him.
This race was all about Trump and very little about biden. The American people as a whole really do not like djt. a reply to: network dude

I find it hilarious when they go on about him refusing to leave. What do they think, like he's gonna just stay in the whitehouse being president while Biden stands out front pouting and kicking rocks around screaming "it ain't fair"!

Lol, C'mon Man!

No. They won't because a lot of Republicans are the "new money" so to speak, and the Never Trumpers are like Jen Rubin -- on record as wanting to "punish" the ones who supported Trump. There goes the party.

I wouldn't agree with that. There's no reason for them to punish the party now that Trump is gone. In fact they can see it as a win; they won the party back.

I'll go even further. Here in new york (and I assume in other places as well) there has been a growing displeasure amongst left leaning people in opposition to what the Democrat party has been doing...

No bail reform, pore covid response, the over politicalization of very thing, rioting ...

I think the Democrats have lost a good amount of support from their base. Those people are still left leaning so while they are unhappy with the party, Tump is still seen as bad in their minds. Now that Trump is gone these people will have more room to show displeasure with the party.

Couple that with how minorities broke from the party in record numbers.

The Democrats should be worried.

As an anecdotal example my wife is left leaning and has always voted Democrat. Yet this year I easily convinced her to vote straight ticket republican down ballot; she did still vote for Biden.

This is what conservatives get for not going to school/city board meetings and raising hell.
Myself included.
