I do not know the details... But my understanding is, that it was impossible to moderate. This is a big forum, after all. F-words... threats.... insults... hate speech... well heck, maybe by today's standards this post is hate speech.

But what i try to say is, that the "Owners of this site" did not have much choice. They were against the wall. A wall of ill behavior.

Every video game chat has no moderation (not that I ever heard of) and I've never seen anyone get banned for foul speech.

That's because in freedom we say what we want and no one really cares unless they wanna speak too.

I've seen the most disgusting comments and I laughed it was funny. I enjoy seeing the Truth, not some watered down list of censored posts.

Censorship is bad.
Once the power is given they start censoring views they dont like and picking winners and losers based off who they like not off legit reasons.

So I say GIMME free speech.
Within a week you'll get over the stuff you dont like and learn to enjoy others as they truly are.

If video games can have free chat or even youtube is mostly freedom based, than ATS can too.

Make sure to put Gertrude Ederle there. Thread. From early years of last century. She said that she would swim across the English channel. Very VERY male dominated society back then... They laughed at her. Something went wrong and she was pulled to a boat. She said she will try again, and "Don't touch me, no matter what, i am going to make it or drown" She MADE IT and smashed all previous records (by men) with a nice couple hour margin.
