Does sinking it there stop Military actions or Commercial shipping?

You know that is a very interesting point, the English Channel is perhaps the busiest shipping lane in the world, an oil Tanker - in this case empty and just carrying ballast apparently or so they claim - could be a floating bomb in the right hand's and cause a crisis, something your average jihadi or other terror group just might do since there motivation is to cause fear and terror as well as publicity.
Something for our and indeed international security forces to keep an eye on now that this has happened, it could very well have been far worse had these been terrorists and that tanker been brimming with oil or chemical's.

It’s not the military’s call to storm until the relevant service hands over.

Remember Operation Nimrod, took 5 days until the police handed the situation over to the military.

So, it left Nigeria 20 days ago and hadn't stopped anywhere else?

I read it stopped in the Canary Islands and at Saint Nazaire while underway.

Cheers

They weren’t hijackers they were stowaways what they did was show themselves once off the British coast the crew suspecting a hijack isolated. Any plod could have gone aboard and they would have surrendered. This happened a few year ago and previously on an aircraft years before they will all be given refugee status and allowed to stay. Stand by for many more
