I have some plants growing in water, but want to add the gravel and rocks to make it look pretty, maybe throw in a couple of seashells.

So easy and beautiful and always nice to bring a bit of nature indoors. They are especially nice in the colder months when things are so dreary. Enjoy!

I did this years ago when I had bettas.

Once I'm confident my kids won't kill my fish I'll start doing this again.

Very cool. I would love to try this but I can't even keep succulents alive. You know, the plants that are supposed to be so easy to care for, those plants. If I ever figure these things out, maybe I can try the water garden. Would be cool though.

I discovered that secret as I had the same problem. DO NOT WATER THEM. Literally that's all I did differently to keep them alive outside. I just do not water them and they do fine from whatever is in the air I guess.

I kinda wanted to a micro refugium with marine plants as well. That way I could keep a handful of ornamental tiny fish, seed it with copepods, add some snails and have a self sustaining ecosystem dedicated to mostly plants and shrooms.

Oh I miss having bettas! So easy to care for and so very beautiful. I had plants with my bettas too. When I am feeling better, perhaps I will get a betta again.

How old are your kids? Tell them to leave the feeding up to you. Kids tend to overfeed.

Bahaha! I take it you don't have a green thumb. Maybe look up easy care plants and see what's available.

Haha! You reminded of a time many years ago when I couldn't even keep a cactus alive. LOL

Make sure your snails don't overbreed. Tiny fish are great! Set it up!

I have a planted tank with CO2 injection, 100w lighting and Walstad style dirt substrate.

I like these little personal biospheres in our houses

My kids are 5 and 7. It's the 5 year old I would be concerned about. He doesn't follow instructions too well.

No idea where he got that from......

Haha! For the first time in my life, I have a cat that doesn't knock things over. He never chews on plants either.

LOL! There are some artificial plants that look real. Those come in handy for places where there is no sunlight.
