Mitt Romney decries US politics: ‘The world is watching with abject horror’

I don't think this forum has ever been so aptly named, US Politics has indeed descended into madness and while you guys bicker and argue over Trump and Biden, what does the world think? Well Senator Mitt Romney seems to have a fairly decent grasp on that.

He says it...

“has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass, that is unbecoming of any free nation”.
“The world is watching America with abject horror,” he added.

From my perspective, with friends in many countries around the world, this seems to be an accurate portrayal.

So many people sticking their fingers in their ears when Trump does, or says something unbecoming of a World Leader (almost a daily occurrence), then again, for some of you, that's the appeal. Then there's Biden, I mean surely after Hillary they should have found a less divisive person as their nominee?

Romney goes on to say

“The president calls the Democratic vice-presidential candidate ‘a monster’. He repeatedly labels the Speaker of the House ‘crazy’. He calls for the justice department to put the prior president in jail. He attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a plot is discovered to kidnap her.

Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own, though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others.”

it seems he's even pleaded with Trump to turn down the rhetoric.

He also speaks about the things the Democrats have done, though Keith Olbermann isn't a politician.

But Romney also sought to blame both sides, saying: “Pelosi tears up the president’s State of the Union speech on national television. Keith Olbermann calls the president a terrorist.”

All in all this is a pretty damning statement on current affairs by the Juniour US Senator for Utah and I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree with him.

The problem is that the US Presidential run is the biggest train wreck happening right now (unless you count Brexit of course but that isn't as big and loud as the US Presidential campaign), it's a good distraction from the pandemic.

I can attest that in Canada, 99% of people I know think Trump is a trainwreck, and Biden is a creep, but the lesser of two evils.
