This is why nothing ever gets done in D.C. What is wrong with passing standalone bills? I expect this will apply to the stimulus and unemployment as well. Many people need their unemployment and stimulus checks to just be able to get by. I wasn't eligible for the last stimulus and don't expect to be eligible for this one either. I'm worried about the people who need help now.

Pelosi won't support standalone bill

Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she won't support a standalone bill to offer additional funding for airlines without a guarantee from the Trump administration that a larger coronavirus relief bill would also be considered, days after President Trump abruptly shut down negotiations between White House officials and Congress.

She should be required to bring a standalone bill to a vote. If there are any good Democrats in the house, they should vote for this help for the American people and fight for more later. If none cross the line to vote this in, maybe the people of their states should evaluate who they actually voted into office. They need to take off their gloves and pass this, Trump already used an executive order to help many people, but he could only do so much for a short time which might be ending soon. I am very disappointed in the Democrat congressmen right now for not challenging Pelosi in her delusional state.

Sadly, I think a lot of people who typically vote democrat will see this as her sticking it to Trump.

There will be no financial aid of any sort going out before the election.

As I have said many times, the dems will destroy the nation to remain in power.

Local politicians around here wouldn't be caught dead being associated with the democratic party.

Are you bemoaning the fact that more taxpayer money isn't going out to another industry?

How about this, we open things back up and people who want to fly, like me, can fly and people who want to stay home and use Teams and Zoom can stay in their veal boxes.

There could be stand alone bills on all the issues that the Senate could either pass or consolidate into a single bill that the House could pass again. But there will not be anything before the election because they can’t have Trump or other Republicans making any claim to have helped Americans ahead of t(e election.

The political capital games works by saying Trump and the Republicans failed to help Americans by diplomatic negotiation and compromise. That they would rather grandma dies of the Covid in the nursing homes because they wouldn’t pass a relief bill and there was no where else to but the infected to recover (besides literally anywhere but a nursing home including cots in gyms of closed schools...)

I agree that we should open back up and let people choose for themselves. I'm not specifically bemoaning about the airline funding. I see this becoming her stance with the stimulus checks for the general public and unemployment. I don't know where my empathy came from here, but I am worried about the people who are in dire financial situations.

You should be worried, we're all intertwined. You cannot shutdown the world's largest economy for half a year and not expect to suffer any impact yourself.

Well played by Trump.

These pork bills need to stop and should be illegal.

I just mean that under normal circumstances I would be completely against a multi-trillion dollar debt being added.

There are no good democrats in Washington now. Even the good know they will lose the support of the party if they cross over. Because of this, even the good are bad. They are selling their honor for party money to remain in office.

Watching republicans defend corporate socialism, while crapping on personal socialism...is pretty funny.

You guys desperately need to increase educational funding.

If you pass standalone bills, then it's much harder to bury things like a bailout of state governments in it.

I'm against it now. I was against it in March/April. It's absurd.

I do not support a thing that old drunk hag gargoyle bitch says or does.

But damn the airlines. They got billions in the first covid relief bill. They can take from their executives’ ridiculous salaries and take away their bonuses this year if they are having trouble. Live like the rest of us WHO DONT GET BAILED OUT.

Instead of focusing on that old bitch, or what Trump will or wont do, let’s start demanding they tell us why the airlines get bailed out AGAIN? When was the last time anyone bailed ANY of us out?! Let’s demand to know how much each heads of the airlines make in salary and bonus and everything- let’s make them admit that and then they can tell us again why they need ANOTHER BAILOUT?

I’m living with my sister while this is all happening. I’m grateful, but damn we might murder one another soon. How many of the big airline execs are living with their relatives during this time? Do you think any of them have even had to give up even ONE of their vacation houses in Bermuda and Sweden and Lake Tahoe?

At this point, what difference does it make?

Trump signed that 7T bill without any concession.

Selfish part if me says hand out that money so I can ensure a winter survival.
