I think that what we saw for decades was ever-increasing costs (and profits) in areas that the patient never really saw unless they looked for it.

The ACA made this system "official," and alongside those obscure costs between insurance and provider.. The direct costs to the patient also increased. Because, why not? Its a forced, captive market to an entirely corrupt system.

And somehow, this system is marketed as the solution to the very problem it exacerbates and institutionalizes. Weaponized and exploited ideals, just like everything from environmentalism to "poverty." Its a very profitable paradigm & marketing, both in terms of finances and outright power/control.

Matching up our ideals with reality & pragmatism has always been a gargantuan task. In my opinion, its (one of) the main driving forces behind our creation of tools and technology. Somewhere along the line, people became zealously convinced that the way to accomplish it was not innovation, creativity, building, and cleverness.. But funneling large sums of money and power into the bureaucrats and organizations that propagate "ideologically correct" marketing.

Lol at this thread.
President gets the best treatment available for his illness shocker!

Is a president getting the best treatment more outrageous or less outrageous than a president getting two scoops of ice cream?

The American people should get the same exact health coverage as Congress. Of, by, and for the People!

Maybe it ought to be that Congress should get the same health coverage as the average citizen.

ACA was meant to cause us enough pain we would beg for single payer.

ACA essentially mandated we all buy into the bloated cost structure. And it made the possibility of accessing healthcare for someone who is private pay a non-starter.

Insurance, or any entity that negotiates for discounts and lower prices, only causes front end costs to go up. You present an over inflated cost on the bill, so that you can come down to a reasonable cost for the negotiated rate.

We need to rebuild our healthcare system to have a no insurance needed tier. Then you would only need catastrophic insurance which would be much cheaper. I have seen clinics in Texas where you go in and pay 20 bucks, fill out just medical paperwork and then see a nurse prac in about 10 mins.

Never mind the cost, even if you paid, the average American wouldn't have access to such good treatment.

Any average person asking for a non-FDA approved drug would receive a strict "no". The hospital wouldn't spend the time doing paperwork and research needed for approval.

Unless you are extremely famous or the top 1%, you go into the hospital you are going to get the standard treatment - no discussion.

It’s a virus, the only way to stop it is to kill all potential hosts or change human biology completely.
