When we see an optical illusion, how do we know it's an optical illusion?

If all we are is the material brain and the material brain is fooled why aren't we fooled if all we are is the material brain?

When we see a wheel spinning backwards are brain is fooled and thinks it's a wheel spinning backwards so why aren't we fooled if all we are is the material brain?

If all we are is the material brain and the material brain continues to see an optical illusion even when we know it's an optical illusion, how can we know or what exactly is we if people tell us we is just the material brain?

If I know there's no green dots like in the first illusion, then why do I keep seeing green dots when I focus on the plus sign in the middle? You will see green dots replace the pink dots.

If all I am is the material brain then when I see green dots why don't I think there's just really green dots?

Because you brain is using light waves and your eyes to interpret the physical world. It’s not the actual physical world.

Very strange indeed you can follow the ball around and it's always the same color as soon as I focus on the plus sign boom green dot. It's all a trick the world is a lie we live in a hologram. Up is down far is near you have entered the twilight zone.

What do optical illusions prove?

If you were to create humans and the universe, could you be this smart?

That's brilliant...

I think the answer is we don't and we can't.

They prove we are ignorant of the world around us.

My buddy only has one eye. No optical illusions or 3d movies for him. I always lie to him and tell him how lame 3d movies are. It’s the least I can do. Don’t play with guns kids, you’ll shoot your eye out

How flat would we have to be to be flat without height? Once you have no height in any way flatland does not exist.

Remove one dimension of the third dimension and your result is emptyness, it all falls apart into a void.

It's like what is on an empty table. What is on a empty table has no height and is clearly nothing. Anything else measured are the dimensions of the table.

Dunno man.
Carl explains it tho. We as 3d entities cannot fathom flat land or 4d.

That is why he said to use your imagination.

Just because a 3D object can enter flatland doesn't necessarily mean this can be the same for reality or we would end up with an endless amount of dimensions if hou can count to infinity.

I think that was the whole point Sagan was pointing out. That the universe might be eternal.

Ahh yes, I too have taken psychedelics in my day.
Potent stuff haha.

A serious response should be...

How can reality be proven to exist using just our senses? How can our senses be proven to be real as well?
And how can you prove what proves our senses that prove reality is real, is also real?

Its a big big hole and it gets really deep down there.

I can say, air is real because I can feel it blow on my skin.
But then again how do you prove the sense of feeling from your skin to be real, and not just an abstract placed in your mind to be trigged at appropriate times, like a computer does when you click a button with your mouse cursor?

How can you prove the pain you feel is real and not just your mind telling you when to believe pain should be existing because you hurt yourself stubbing your toe?

How can you prove that an object is real when you see it? Because you can walk up to it and feel it? Smell it? Taste it? Hear it?
Because others can "sense" it too?
How can you be sure that all human minds arnt connected like a collective to share the same illusions of reality to fit into the program of the universe as we call it?

I think there is more proof that we don't exist, than that we do exist.
And thats pretty freaking scary.

When you strip away all reality and matter that can be interacted with from our senses, what are you left with?
Thoughts.
And from the subconscious mind, a playground is born to house the entities of creation.
This world is just a vehicle for our imaginations.
It is a tool, for the thought to evolve.
For our spirits to evolve.
For all things of energy to evolve.

We already know that under every aspect of life, there is energy inside it, and controlling it.
We can't explain how or why, but we know it is there.

You're asking the right questions, but that is a conversation some people could lose their grip on a reality they are very comfortable with.
Some say the truth will set you free.
I believe it makes you go insane.

We know that they aren't real because there are people who can't see them, and in some cases simply closing one eye can defeat them.

its one of my favourite things

I love an optical illusion , our brains are pretty smart when it comes to this filling in the gaps
or "content aware" from photoshop is pretty much what our brain does
it makes it up so it makes sense

this is my fav internet page on optical illusions a scientist who works in japan tests various illusions and researches them

Akiyohsis Illusion pages
