Ok, so here's an interesting one, multiple students were suspended from school after those students posted a recording of their principal using 'n-word' in a conversation with black students about their usage of the word.

The students posted audio recordings of the conversation out of context on social media, the school has policies about unauthorized audio and video recordings and the students were suspended for violating that policy.

The president of the local BLM chapter disagrees and believes not only that the students had every right to use that language in school but that because of this incident the principal and administration is racist and the school needs to undergo anti-racism training.

Multiple students from St. Michael School in Calgary have been suspended after a portion of a conversation between a group of Black students and their principal was shared online.

The audio recording in question catches the principal uttering a racial slur.

"So how come it's OK for you to say [the N-word]?" principal Lianne Anderson asked a group of Black students, questioning their use of the word.

One of the students shared the recording with a family member, who posted it online, calling the principal's choice to use the N-word "unacceptable."

The Calgary Catholic School District is defending Anderson's actions and said the principal chose to use the word "strictly for educational purposes."

[...]

My view on this, every single person mentioned in this article is in the wrong. The principal is an idiot for saying that to the students, the students are idiots for posting that and the BLM president is an idiot for continuing the utter moronic line of thinking that black people calling eachother 'n-word's is ok.

If the words so terrible, stop #ing using it, if it's not don't cry when someone else uses.it, you're not 'taking the power back' by using it.

You're announcing to the world you think of yourself as a 'n-word'

How do you unify a country if people are not even allowed to use the same lingo?

So, the principal was trying to have a legitimate conversation with this group of black students.

I would think — judgement can only be on the entire conversation.

If the principal is truly trying to understand — isn’t that a good thing?

Yeah it's such a terrifying word that is completely offensive to people of color.

That's why it's used in 90% of all rap music....

Time for people to stop with the blatant bull#.

From now on I (old white dude) am offended by "honkey and cracker" ,
Therefore unless you are dealing with equine or groceries - you can't use those words....

Critical Race Theory at work here.

Pigeonholing every white person as racists is the hallmark of so-called "anti-racism."

Ibram Kendi interprets this much like physicists interpret anti-matter. The same in every way except the polarity of the charge(I understand this isn't the whole anti-matter story but this isn't a physics discussion). To mean that in order for you to be anti-racist you have to discriminate against white people because white people and "whiteness" in general is always racist.

This is why they're trying to o do away with legal protections against race based hiring in California and other places.

It's why they have created racial segregation zones in schools. Anti-racist does NOT mean NOT RACIST. Ibram Kendi's book, "How to be an Anti-Racist" is very clear on this point. To paraphrase, 'It is not enough to be non-racist. One must be actively anti-racist.' Since white people can never not be racist, because they are inherently so according to Kendi, action must be taken against the racist whites that includes all the same tactics employed against black and brown people.

Under this definition you can actually go after black/brown people who disagree with you, in the view of people like Kendi, as white supremacists.

Basically CRT or Critical Theory in general, is the racialization of social sciences, but it doesn't stop there. CT is found in nearly every discipline and has deeply infected many institutions and corporations.

It's a cancer that is metastasizing.

Maybe so much emphasis shouldn't be placed on words.

What you think of when using a word will not be the same as someone else. If you do, you've never taken the time to understand how someone with Autism or Asperger's view meaning of words.

As we can see from all the hooplah about the Principals comments, she was right...

How come they can use it and I can't....especially in that context.

Nothing wrong with it.

Canada doesn't exactly have a history of racism against blacks to start with, so there's that...

I 100% agree! He tried to learn and asked questions that should cause those who do use the word even if they are black to at the very least question the use themselves.

Unless the possibility of open, fair and honest discussion about race was made impossible by design. That any deviation of the whites vs the world narrative is automatically racist.

Agreed.
If, in the course of the conversation, he called one of the students (N word), that is completely different than using the word in a sentence in an effort to find out why they said it, or to show them how the use of the word can be offensive.

The president of the local BLM chapter

...needs to STFU because their opinion on this matter doesn't matter.

A direct quote of someone else's words should never equal attacks against the individual quoted. It seems the principal was directly quoting a couple of fools from the school, confronting them for their trash language and choice to use words we've been told are hate-speech. Suspend the children, show your middle finger to the local terrorist group leader, and move on from the debacle.

The bLM can suck a fat one... Trump signed an executive order ending their brainwashing propaganda. Or is about to sign one. I think bLM should go to re-education class on real history and the real history of the democrat party they're slaves to, unbeknownst to them.

In an equal non racist society the BLM president himself is racist in believing

blacks have certain advantages in the use of language, that they can say things not

allowable to people of another colour.

OHHH sorry I forgot only white people can be racist.

I'm hard pressed to think of many cultures that regularly refer to one another using a slur that others have denigrated them with for many many years. In the best case that is abusing a double standard; in the worst case it demonstrates a shocking lack of self-respect, like TX said.
