Have I been around a sports team ... I competed in track and field for a power 5 conference school in the US. I spent most of my life in sports of one sort or another, various sports, various teams.

Even so, there are things you cannot say. These days in the states, there are things you dare not say to family even. You really don't pay attention, do you?

He probably has a publicity clause, I don't know if that's true, but I suspect.
So he's entitled to whatever views, but he can't do social media in any negative way that could affect sponsorships.

That is what I wonder.

I also wonder if other members of the team have made questionable tweets and gone unpunished. If so, this guy can take the team's management to court.

Maybe. It depends on the laws wherever he signed his contract.

Sounds to me that they are trying to suppress freedom of speech as to political choice. The person who tweeted the original crap had a right to make a statement, but a person saying bye and a wave emogi gets punnished because they are a Republican. I think federal funding for UCI should be suspended till the guy who dismissed him gets fired, with no compensation.

The person's statement who got suspended were not excessive, it is not like he was bashing anyone.

I've met him a couple of times.
His LIVESTRONG people in Austin were awesome. It was clear that they all knew the guy was a complete a**hole...and I had him pegged as a total phony five minutes after meeting him.
