I'm just saying, if you want to expand your audience, instead of tossing out an obscure "Fire Island" comment that required the majority of us who have never been to your fine #hole of a metropolis Googling "New York fire island lgbt" to make heads or tails of, perhaps a gentle weaning off from the local hipster references would be met with appreciation. "Eric Trump is building a new Trump Tower in Queens" for example, would have widened your field of audience for instance. I realize Queens means something specific to New Yorkers, but to the majority of the country it is hilarious that New York has a borough named after transvestites.

Queens isn't a gay mecca so the reference isn't the same but you did get the gay implications so I'm not super sad.

I figured everybody knew about it myself. I remember a comedian or maybe a song referencing it. Something to the extent that he was as afraid as a gerbil during the annual fire island parade.
