So he can hand of his presidency. If you think that those in his party will not attack his ass if he is elected then you need to take a closer look at these people.

There are two parties.

Progressives - Ultra Left and those who hate Trump
Republicans - The same people who voted Trump in 2016 and more minorities

I can't say why the DNC wanted Biden but I know why he is doing it.
He is doing his best to protect what family he has left. If he looses, his son is going to prison for the rest of his life and this will follow his grandchildren for years. That's why his wife is supporting him 100% and probably didn't try to dissuade him.

Simple, they did not want Benny Sanders anywhere near the White House.
