We don't have such problems here but I'm happy for you after what I've seen coming out of western schools. I hope education will be made great again and it won't be indoctrination anymore.

**Edit: What I mean by that is I'd like to see more objectivity from teachers and less biased lessons rather than with a far-left agenda. I don't support forced patriotic propaganda (like the North Korean model) and I have expectations from Trump and other people in charge not to turn lectures into that, but to focus more on the positive aspects and American pride instead of creating generations of self-hating Americans.

Welcome to the new north Korea. What better way to brainwash people from a young age to fight their wars, with a bit of patriotic brainwashing.

I'd like to see it go back to the way it was when I was in school in the 80's and 90's. Learn about how great America is and was, and absolutely no personal opinion from the teachers regardless of which side they stand on. When I was a student, teachers were mature, responsible, and most were seen as a third parental figure. We also learned grammar and spelling and proper ways to speak.

Well I can go as far as back is the late 50s and 60s .
And yes the elementary school teachers were pretty much our second parents.

Let me sum this up:

"We need to teach REAL history, and by real we mean history in a way that doesn't offend us".

Sounds about right, and no one here supporting this clown fiesta will be able to produce a single instance in which the current DOE curricula contains "fake history".

If some historic subjects make you feel uncomfortable then good, that's one of the many reasons we study history.

February is Black History Month and maybe people like Frederick Douglass with his contributions to our country should be discussed more thoroughly in our American history books. He was an abolitionist who fought for slavery freedom and women’s suffrage. He also believed in equal rights for all.

Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. should be a big part of our American history to go along with the stories of our founding fathers."

Guess you didn't pay much attention in Government class. We have a federalist system. The country isn't solely governed at the federal level. The federal and state governments work separately from each other. The state governments don't work FOR the federal government or in concert with it. So commenting about problems in blue states has nothing to do with patriotism.

The President is constantly dividing the nation daily in his comments of Red and Blue. Which in turn tends to divide the people into those categories. He rarely if ever talks of the United States, of all people. He has done nothing to unite the country as one nation of people with different beliefs.

I'm not sure what state government has to do with Patriotism or with the President constantly referencing a divide within the country. With strong leadership the nation usually pulls together and is more Patriotic during hard times.

Feel free to school me again if you so choose on state and federal government though because if you thought it was some sort of dig at my intelligence I didn't take it that way, so it failed.

My sons did Not stand for pledges nore hear the anthunim .
