Chances are, if someone is lighting fires somewhere, they aren't using space based lasers.

What about the NASA infrared research plane noted making runs up and down the fire lines?
Speculation was that perhaps the infrared had turned earthward instead of skyward.

Which I think would be so hilarious because they're so definitely visible Landing right on the Fire.

Now one individual said that's impossible for the fires to be promulgated from a beam from above .....think back the last year in the California fires.

Where the trees were untouched but the metal objects were roasted with a line seen in grass of burned, charred material or untouched.

Did you know I helped Boeing build it a mock up at Redmond.

Did you know I got a 747 flying around with the dadgum laser under its nose .

At first they tried a chemical laser and they decided to modify it that was three or four years ago

Yep in 2016 they had a video of them shooting a Jeep with their beam it got roasted then they took the video down

The US military used a laser mounted in a special KC 135 to shoot down missiles in the 1980's.

I'm thinking they could actually start a fire on the ground with an airborne laser today, given technology advancement in the last 30+ years.
