You have to realise what metals mean for the hegemony of the dollar, they are the only alternative, if they are not controlled the dollar becomes worthless.What metals should be and what they are becomes irelevant, at some stage the buying power of Gold and Silver will decide its own worth.Which it seems to be doing whatever price the spot is ,trying to get it around that price is impossible.Their is some sort of shortage for silver which is getting some serious massaging.

They aren't controlled, they're subject to the free market. What's stopping you from buying or selling them to anyone at any time you like? Nothing.
