Philippines - US to provide military assistance if China attacks in South China Sea

If you think war is inevitable, then we should attack now with everything we have. We can't count on the Chinese to get any weaker, or not gain allies.

But if all out war isn't inevitable, then we should look for our best options. We could start by asking why China would attack Philippine ships in the first place. What do they have to gain by that? The ships are in disputed waters, so how about staying out of disputed waters until the dispute is settled. Nobody should have to die because two governments get into a snit over some water.

Of course, that doesn't get us any closer to 2 billion dead. We could always start looking for Infinity Stones.

Lets say a foreign country like Mexico decided to lay claim to the entire gulf of mexico. Would we all the sudden shut down fishing in disputed waters and let millions go hungry. You have no idea the impact china's commercial fishing vessels have had on villages throughout the philippines where fishing is their only way of life short of exporting foreign workers.

This is similar to all countries in that area and folks are beginning to go hungry due to China's aggressive fishing habits where they keep any fish larger than a small minnow to feed their own masses while villages whose shore lines are less than 10 miles away and depend on the ecosystem to continue providing fish can no longer depend on the destroyed eco system.

Having the world community in support of action unfortunately is required before taking any unilateral action. If condemnation is not gained before the war starts then the aggressor is condemned and folks will align themselves with whatever country has the potential to do most damage in order to protect themselves.

Will not be a world war in the way folks are acting like
It will be like cold war 2.0, limited conflicts nobody going nuclear because the entire world loses that way.

China is biting of way more than it can chew.

From their false claims on the entirety of the south china sea, their claims in Taiwan, there skirmishes with Vietnam in Vietnam's territorial waters, there issues with the Philippines and the fact shots have been fired between India and China...

That doesnt even cover all the internal issues China are having.

Seems the leader of China got a bit to big for his britches.

I think the CCP knows the people are going to overthrow them if they don't have food to eat and other basic items of life.

They are a rat backed into a corner and they will fight.
