He shouldn't have been there armed there though. He's just a kid. Teenage boys are ripe with hormones and haven't developed emotional intelligence yet, it's just asking for trouble... And as he's found, you can put yourself in a life altering position.

Some are going to defend it, and maybe even celebrate it... But its instances like this that threaten rights by making the public discussion question them all together. This one won't bring it all down, but death by a thousand cuts is possible when we brush off this one here and this one there.

We're in a battle for public perception, and right now the rash and loud are winning. Everyone is looking for a savior while ignoring personal responsibility, anyone who's being honest knows where it's all going.

You're forgetting that the honest to God reality is only half the battle.

You gotta get a decent judge too.

There are some horrible judges out there who do NOT care about the law and instead want to push political agendas.

If you get an anti2nd judge he could go down on anything no matter what evidence disputes it.

The kid handled himself and the situation far better than many cops do in far less dangerous situations. Apart from being there in the first place, which is debatable. If the city officials and police would do their jobs, he wouldn't have felt the need to be there.

Honestly he did a pretty good job, he tried to retreat (no legal requirement to), only pulled the trigger on people attacking him, when the last guy paused he paused as well till the guy resumed his attack then did the kid pull the trigger.

Many other people, would have pulled the trigger till they ran dry.

I wont even lie, most likely in his position I would have shot till I was empty, as the fear and adrenaline took over.

Unless someone isn't involved in these LARP battles at all and just an innocent bystander, I'm going to be hard pressed to call victim shaming.

Anyone involved knows what's going on and whats at stake when you go down to these events. Is it your right? Sure, but personal responsibility comes along with rights. I'm not going to these sh** shows specifically because I don't want to get caught between people who can't control their emotions.

I'm questioning the parents of this kid more than the kid himself. Something tells me they must have been egging on some behavior for him to show up to riots protests with a loaded AR15. Whoever allows or supports their kid doing that is pretty messed up.

The parents may not have known. It is entirely possible they had no idea what he was getting up to.

Anyone capable of properly swallowing their own spit and not choking to death on it is able to understand based on everything available to review so far, that this kid is going to walk. His actions were the Neon Flashing Sign example of self defense, practically textbook. There is no bubble to pop, no room to argue. He did nothing wrong in that arena. Defending your own life from aggressive, violent assholes being aggressive, violent assholes ON FILM is no crime. They picked the wrong person to assume was incapable of it, he was far from an easy target. Some people evidently need to learn that Do Not Judge A Book Based On It's Cover thing the very hard way.

No i hate to say it but this boy will go to jail for a long time. I only hope that he uses that time to reflect on the mistake he made. Bottom line is his actions caused the death of two people who would not have died if he wasn't there with a rifle. His actions directly lead to the death of two people. This is not really different then holding a police officer accountable for his actions. People make choices and choices have efects on others.

Sadly him being 17 its a shame to see him throw away his life because I believe he thought he was doing the right thing. Problem is his decisions caused others to die and even at 17 he needs to face the responsibility of his actions.

Would everyone here feel the same way if the kid was black?
