Well this might be old news but I just found out about it. I guess the coronavirus is all about making money now. Unfortunately it's all about the taxpayers paying for it. Crazy times we live in.

I think its a great idea, the homeless getting some shelter and a bed to sleep on?
How can that not be good?

I guess the coronavirus is all about making money now.

Well, when money is spent someone is going to benefit. Its a fact of life.
But the point to look at here is the homeless are getting some much needed shelter

Wrong on many levels. Laundry service, damaged property, theft. Taxpayers are on the hook for all those as well. It was already tried in another city. Homeless destroyed the hotel.

Because as been mentioned here over and over their is no intentsion in going back to the way it was, there will be limited travel and need for hotels, another industry crippled if not destroyed. A few weeks back we had a market here in town, and it was slow but we did have customers from some closeby areas show up. There one concern was at night groups of young people would gather in the lobbies and it was pretty chaotic, cars getting broken into etc.

Eat out for half the price on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the UK.
Guess who pays for the other half?

Please, if you want to discuss government wasting money why don't you start a thread on the chinese housing bubble.
Where the government spent billions on building fancy housing that no one can afford. Complete cityblocks of (half finished) high rise appartments deserted and slowly falling apart

And they are demanding the Federal Government pay for their city shortfalls. Pfffftttt. This along with long term fiscal mismanagement are reasons the rest of the nation should not pay for their poor decisions.

This is absolutely true. I live in NYC and have friends that live in the neighborhoods that these hotels are ( Hell's Kitchen, Meatpacking District. )

The city has spent millions on this BS and now Cuomo and DiBlasio say they can't afford to pay 25% of Trump's proposed federal unemployment stimulus. NYC also wasted millions on makeshift emergency hospitals that didn't house a single patient. At what point does this become recognized as gross negligence?

P.s. the homeless folks at these hotels still hangout on the sidewalk all day drinking, panhandling, and yelling at women.

Thanks Democrats!! Awesome job!

And the decimated hotel industry in NY is getting some relief as well.

Exactly
But some people see these things as bad because the money's being spent on the homeless. I really cant understand why?

Think homeless are bad look how the public ( aka You talk about thenm .

Generalizing yea right wing is so much better then left who generalist as well RIGHT ALL are EVIL left all ARE misunderstood . Both sides should book a flight on virgin galactic the world would be a MUCH batter place .

I think it boils down to that age-old emotion of Jealousy.

People get riled up when someone gets something for free that they themselves would normally have to pay for and it irks the # outta them.

lets hope you dont ever end up homeless, as people like yourself would happily see you stave or freeze to death, we have charities like the Salvation Army in the UK, who help with some of the homeless but they cant do it all.

I mean its obviously the small percentage of poor people not the mega rich (who dont pay their correct taxes) that are going to break the economy........

99.99% of homeless people I've seen in my life were drunken drug addicts and mentally ill. Happy to leech off working people to further their selfish deeds. Making poor choices day after day, like having unprotected sex when your homeless, and it's up to everyone else to take care of them.

Where's the accountability? Why support and enable their parasitic lifestyle they choose day after day?
