First off, this isn't a USA site, this is a world wide site, so I am not complaining about views for other nations. Other areas perspective is a great thing in some cases. But if not complaining due to job requirements, then what drives people from thousands of miles away separated by vast oceans, to feel the need to adopt such a strong attitude about American politics?

I'm sure there is something driving this, and I'd like to know what it is. Is the telly telling you about the bad orange man? Is the political spectrum were you live so bland and boring that you have to take your game on the road? is your nation all squared away and in such good shape there just isn't anything to complain about?

When I went to Canada for the 1st time last year, a lot of ppl asked what its like to have Trump as president. Without swaying the conversation to politics, I simply stated that I don't watch cable TV. The media has helped create the negative perception. From what I saw, they don't have a protest culture the way we do, so to them it looks lke the US is in chaos. I have to say, the Canadians were unbelievably welcoming and bought us drinks. I couldn't have been more grateful.

The u.s. is the biggest power in the world and its president is a clown.

People liked to joke at Americans before, now trump gives even more reason.

Granted, it's not like other countries are perfect, but i can imagine it's fun to make fun of Americans who think the idiocracy president is pllaying 5d chess.

He does not. German media is famously anti-Trump and looks for any possible reason to praise Biden. 'Course, they work pretty tightly with their own government, and Trump does not have a fan in Merkel.

Another factor is that a lot of the overseas media is owned by the same conglomerates that own much of American media. Same message, all the time. People overseas don't have much direct experience with American life and take their cue from the media. Those who understand the message is distorted are the minority.

Cheers

You could ask the same question as why there are so many anti British Royal Family from overseas.

It's all a matter of opinion.

The reason people all over the world feel the need to adopt strong opinions about American politics is because the
USA is by far the single most powerful and influential single entity on the planet and it affects the quality of people's lives all over the planet. That is a role that the US deliberately and successfully pursued since the end of WWII and--for better or worse--that's where we are. The US is the only nation that has the ability to project overwhelming military power any place on the planet, basically at the whim of the POTUS. The POTUS can go and depose leaders of countries he doesn't like (think Saddam Hussein), spend a few trillion dollars in the process, and not blink an eye. Our economy is still the largest in the world and benefits from the dollar being effectively the world's currency. When the POTUS decides to use the economic power of the US on an adversary nation (think Iran) the economy of that nation turns to crap, and tens of millions of people feel the effect.

To all of those people in the world who are affected by the power of the US--potentially both positively and negatively--it must seem like a kind of taxation without representation. There can be major impacts on their life, with no ability to participate in the decision making process or selection of the POTUS. So yeah, they have strong opinions about it.

I chalk it up as the same thing that happens here: insular Media & News.

In other countries, it might be even more pronounced. The same forces that drive the media manipulation here are at work globally.

Many still havent figured out how dangerous it is to have entire segments of society manipulated into believing in a manufactured reality. Its shared globally though, which is interesting.

One of the basic ideas is to shift the Overton Window through cultivated information channels. We already have plenty believing that networks like cnn, nbc, & abc alongside sources like washington post and ny times are too right wing.

The issue is that the *entire* political spectrum can be dismissed in this way, as the only tenet in this new religion is adherence to the priests words day to day.

American politics used to be rather boring but in your face because of the global presence and pressures it had on the world.
Then it became a fun to watch clown circus. Plus the amount if conspiracy theories that have come from it are entertaining.

I posted this in another thread. this isn't to tout Trump as some amazing guy, I think he's an arrogant ass as well. But he's been saying the same things for years. And now that he's got the power, he is doing exactly what he said he would do. And it was working quite well, before the entire world shut down over the virus.

What affects the US affects the rest of the world so we in the rest of the world while we have no say in your elections do often feel strongly about US policy and it's makers, some of us like Trump like myself but usually ignore US policy except when it affects my nation but others hate him because they fear him, they fear he will somehow weaken there nations - by making the US stronger for example and there nations weaker.

There are undoubtedly people outside the US trying to sway your upcoming election one way or the other to suit there own agenda's and this is something the US citizens should be guarded against especially in the age of internet influencers and international social media.

The only thing I could say to the US is remember the biblical saying "You shall know them by there fruit", had Trump not become president how much more aggressive and expansionist may China have been, how much more dangerous would Iran have been, I believe as an outsider that much of the anti trump sentiment in the US is on false racism accusations but that is just my opinion since I do not live there, had the coronavirus not thrown a wrench into the work's however how many more US citizens would be in a job today.

I am actually a Moderate socialist but that is not the US version of that so I have nothing in common with the US left or it's Right but here is my take on his actions, getting corporations to bring back there jobs to the US, this automatically pushes wages UP, it does this because more job's less potential employees and so the employers have to pay a fair rate in a market were the potential employee has more choice, this in turn pushes up your living standards, boosts your retail sector and improves your economy.

So given that has the opposition been for the US or against it, if Trump's policy's were PRO US then why have THEY continually sabotaged them, is it because him being successful would have kept there party and there corporate backers out of power for a very long time?.

But like I say I am British not a US citizen and don't have any vested interest in your election other than that I want a STRONG US in the world as a stabilising economic and international presence on the world stage - oh and the fact I Love the US as a nation of cousins over the pond.

So whoever win's your next election I sincerely wish you the best for the near and the distant future.
