The left has told many lies throughout its existance. It claims America is past its prime, that our founding ideals are "aged" and that somehow people in 2020 are morally superior to those in the past. THEY claim to know what is best for this country, yet THEY can hardly stand the fact this country even still exists. Lets face it, a lot of those people hate this country. From the rioters/looters who are burning down American cities and depriving people of their businesses and homes to the elected politicians who are enabling violent crime, exercising fascist levels of control over unfortunate populations living in their mini-fiefdoms...these are people who hate America and our founding ideas and steadfast ideals.

Morals and principles matter. They count.

Loving your country is not a bad thing. Patriotism is not a curse word. We live in a great country and have a tremendous history to be proud of. We also have a tremendous country, right here and now, that we built and should also be proud of this. But we have to maintain it. Defend it, jealously. If we are to stand against the endless daily threats to it. We have to support it. Cherish it. Be proud of it. And as a country we can't let others take that away from us. Because it does matter, it counts for something despite not being able to hold it in your hands or put it in your wallet

To large majorities on the left, hating this country is "political"

If you hate this country/think its evil, then you align with the left
If you love this country and think its virtuous, you are diametrically opposed to the left's message and actions

They claim it is political...on a "spectrum" of "intersecting ideologies"

Again..since when do we listen to these people?

Loving this country is not political. It is not a give and take or love and hate relationship that binds us together. It is love for this country and the fundamental belief in its exceptionialism that gives us the right to go out and take our destinies..both as individuals and as a country. To enjoy the product of our work, dedication and loyalty... to have property, lives free of politicial power grabs and the freedom to let our lives play out as we choose. Those are all starting positions, or at least should be, for any person who will be anywhere near the levers of power in this country. When someone comes to the stage and say "I hate this country, elect me as a leader" it needs to be disqualifying.

Hating America isn't an item on the contention between the parties. And we have got to stop normalizing it, and treating is like another belief - different but legitimate nonetheless. This is the big lie. The big con. To hate this country is to be fundamentally un-American.

So, because I disagree with the direction Reagan, the Bushes, and Trump have tried to take this country for the past 40 years, and want legislation passed to change this country for what I and millions of other Americans believe to be the better, you think we hate America?

If we hated this country, we wouldn't be trying to fix it.

Socialism and Marxism is not compatible with the Constitution.

You're not trying to "fix it" you're trying to change it because you hate it and think you're entitled to other's work.

If you don't speak out against looting, yes you hate America. Dems spin it for political gain and do nothing to clean up the streets. Not what I would call fixing this country. Republicans are the ones in the streets cleaning up the mess. I'm an Independant btw.

According to the Supreme Court, abortion bans aren't compatible with it either. Hasn't stopped the unconstitutional rightists from trying to pass unconstitutional laws hindering the right to an abortion.

I'll be right back, I'm gonna pour a glass of bourbon that the Constitution says I'm forbidden from having

I love my country and I am proud to be an American.

There is no other country on earth like America. If we fall to the commies the American dream will be dead.

But what we are seeing is just the last stages of the coup. They are hammering home so hard that Trump wont accept the results alot more than 2016. And every time they accuse Him of something thats what they end up doing or did.

They will never accept the results and they will try to start a civil war.

There was a small riot in my town that, fortunately, was put to rest pretty quickly. I went out and helped clean up the next day, along with a couple hundred others. Swept broken glass for a couple hours

Thats true.

However, I would argue that an abortion would effect one/two lives. And Marxism wouldaffect, say, hundreds of millions....

enjoy your USA made bourbon.

want legislation passed to change this country

The problem is that you and those other individuals don't understand that legislation is limited. You can't go legislating our civil rights away, its unconstitution and is antithetical to our core values and beliefs.

Lets face it here, you are trying to force radical and fundamental change on us and we do not want it. We are resisting your changes and therefore you attack us, our rights and our country. You hate us and our ideals because they stand in the way of your agenda.

As I said, if your agenda is conflict with the bill of rights, opposed by millions and constitutes "radical change" you might want to re-eval your agenda and your own principles/morals/ideals

The same thing the FF of the US did to the loyalists but they, in their progressive fervor (they were the progressives of the time), pushed their agenda anyway.

Bans on my pursuit of happiness are against the constitution too. It was women who lead the charge of the temperance movement which lead to blue laws count buy your bourbon on a sunday. If you have a right to end a life why don't I have a right to my body?

You aren't trying to fix anything and there is nothing wrong with this country. Joe Biden said we have to defeat Donald trump to save America. 2 sentences later he said we have to fundamentally change America. You aren't trying to fix or save anything you are trying to turn America into Venezuela.

If there's nothing wrong with this country why did Trump have to make it great again

Because Obama and Biden had taken us the wrong way. Trump was elected because of Obama terrible policies. The regulations alone were keeping businesses away. There is nothing wrong with this country as in the present. As soon as this covid thing is settled we will let the good times roll again

More concerned with the Bill of Rights vs. amendments, although they're equally valid.

The BOR was considered so important that these unalienable rights had to be especially enshrined. Totally written in stone. Writing an amendment that attempts to cancel out any part of 1A-10A would be intolerable and constitutes a level of violent aggression not seen in this country for hundreds of years.

Please see: fundamental, radical and most of all unwanted change.

Government doesn't have many duties and responsibilities, but the ones it does have cannot be abdicated or incompetently pursued.

It all comes down to this: loving this country is not controversial. It isn't defining. Hating America most certainly isn't a legitimate political opinion.

The only normal spectrum within our body politic is this: "Party A says we should pursue greatness and exceptionalism this way while Party B thinks we should do it this way"

At no point is tanking the country, ruining the economy, neutering our military, defunding our police, siding with our enemies or promoting lawlessness and in some cases even terrorism a valid opposing belief. Those are individual acts of violence against very real people on the suffering end of those positions

Right, but since the right isn't doing any of the things King George did to the colonists the point is kind of moot.

The difference is one side hates this country and thinks it is evil incarnate. The other side loves this country and will fight like hell to protect, preserve and defend it.

If you can't find allies among the second group, shame on you!

That is your opinion.

Other people think the opposite.

Is that the end of the thread?
