Trump signs Executive Order for COVID - Unemployment, No Payroll Taxes, Student Loans and Evictions

They took too long and no one is going to argue this. While waiting on the Heroes Act in the House the president today signed an EO to help those affected by COVID-19.

“The very important thing is that people want it and the people needed, actually,” Trump said, noting that Republicans and Democrats in Congress could not reach a deal.

There is even talk that he may not want to bring back income taxes for Payroll. Also included are the following...

The president also said he would provide a federal unemployment enhancement of $400 per week, but that states would pay for 25 percent of the cost. He also signed a moratorium on evictions and student loan payment deferments.

There is also talk about an EO for existing conditions. The mandate is gone and the only talking point was twisting the pre-existing argument. If he does that also it shows no need for OCare.

This will make a lot of people..as well as voters..happy.

So, where is that 25% supposed to come from? State unemployment taxes? That's good for employers? State income taxes?

States can't do deficit spending.

This is a solution. This is someone doing something about it and also putting the burden on states.

This is good news for the country not a kudo for how did it. It should have been done weeks ago.

By the way.. he says he is gonna make the payroll tax cut permanent. So, no more social security taxes. Ya know what happens when the social security tax collected doesnt cover the amount needed to pay out current beneficiaries? No, they dont just stop paying out. They start calling on the govt to pay up on the ious till all the ious are paid back. Unless, of course the govt decides to default on that debt.. which would sink our credit rating!

It's also an additional incentive for states to encourage businesses to open since it's the states that closed them in the first place.

It's no payroll taxes for those making under 100,000. I thought you'd be applauding the wealthier paying and those making less benefitting.

Payroll taxes fund social security and medicare, that's it. Cut that revenue and you're going to have to either cut the benefits or get the revenue from someplace else.

So he's applying additional tax to those earning $100k+ and removing pay roll tax for those below and yet people have a problem with this.
