In 2005, a study published in the journal Virology found that Chloroquine exhibited prophylactic and therapeutic effects on SARS-CoV, otherwise known colloquially as SARS. SARS-CoV is a coronavirus very similar to MERS(Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and COVID19 (SARS-CoV-2). So since at least 2005 the government has known about the effectiveness of Chloroquine and it's milder and better-tolerated version, hydroxychloroquine on SARS-like coronaviruses.

Here's the study:
Virology Journal

Background
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-CoV). No effective prophylactic or post-exposure therapy is currently available.

Results
We report, however, that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage. In addition to the well-known functions of chloroquine such as elevations of endosomal pH, the drug appears to interfere with terminal glycosylation of the cellular receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2. This may negatively influence the virus-receptor binding and abrogate the infection, with further ramifications by the elevation of vesicular pH, resulting in the inhibition of infection and spread of SARS CoV at clinically admissible concentrations.

Conclusion
Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. Favorable inhibition of virus spread was observed when the cells were either treated with chloroquine prior to or after SARS CoV infection. In addition, the indirect immunofluorescence assay described herein represents a simple and rapid method for screening SARS-CoV antiviral compounds.

For this reason, I believe Fauci is a liar and part of the swamp. His performance before congress was a disgrace and his washy attitude toward the spread of SARS-CoV-2 via protests is illustrative of this.

For context here's the NIH version of the published study:

NIH Study

Dr. Anthony Fauci is the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases under the National Institute of Health. I find it very hard to believe that this guy didn't know about this. People's lives could have been saved if not for the floundering on hydroxychloroquine that has proven itself against SARS-CoV-2.

The time to fire that god damned weasel is NOW.

Dr. Fauci is a member of the group of evil people who wanted Covid-19 to take hold in this country and cause a lot of damage, in order to decrease President Trump's re-election chances. (Lots of threads on this)

He can't be OFFICIALLY exposed and removed until after the Covid-19 vaccine distributed later this year.

He's not doing anything at all to safeguard Americans.

We don't need a vaccine if we already have effective therapeutics.

We have more than enough time to work on a safe SARS-CoV vaccine without doing the insane # we're doing to ourselves now.

I don't think highly of Fauci myself and find him to be a 'compromised expert' of whom his words mean nothing as he has spoken from both sides of his mouth often enough.

That said, it could conceivably be done by President Trump I'd imagine. My question is why does Trump keep him around? Makes me wonder about Trump.

It's been pretty obvious to me that Chloroquine, zinc and an antibiotic is the way to go. It should be taken as soon as symptoms show or before symptoms as a prophylactic. Wait till you are very sick and it may be too late.

It should be clear that some out there want people to die from this virus. What can we do?

Organize protests?

I have questions for him too.

Could he not of wrote an EO. Making pharmacy's give it to the people if they need it, something like that. He let a drug he knows works, be keep from the people. I hope there is a good reason.

I hope the only reason he keeps these swap creatures around is to use them and their info.

Trump isn't a virologist. So he has to take what he has.

What cause would Trump have had to fire that guy prior to the spread of COVID19?

Clearly, I wish Trump would have just fired everyone ever appointed by a democrat to office. But that isn't how he operates and that might actually backfire.

The clear course of action now is to fire Fauci and replace him with a doctor who isn't politically motivated to hurt the country.

It has been a question in my mind for weeks. I have no reasonable answer I can think of. I'm my view Fauci has done a disservice to the American people.

Trump is stuck with him then. I suppose that's something to consider. However he needs to go away nonetheless.

Trump would be drawn and quartered if he fired Fouchi. He is the symbol of hope and reason the MSM has programmed their believers into worshiping. It's cheaper to keep her.

I think, based on all we know now, that Trump could fire him and have more than enough justification.

Lying to the country and causing death should be at the top of the list to fire a scum bag like Fauci.

In vitro. In monkey cell cultures.
Chloroquine, not hydroxychloroquine.
Not SARS-CoV-2.

There are actual clinical tests underway.

Of course I've considered that as well. However being drawn and quartered by the MSM doesn't seem to be a great concern to the POTUS, as he has demonstrated by previous actions. Just saying.
You do have a point though.

Widely cited hydroxychloroquine study is ‘flawed’, Fauci tells hearing

"A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial" is the only standard that Fauci accepts. Are there any of these studies around on HCQ? The study may include other diseases like Malaria and Lupis. The drug was approved for public use about 70 years ago so may need to dig a bit in the archives.

Both of these drugs have been studied significantly for their prophylactic attributes against SARS-like viruses. Most of the use and studies are outside of the US.

Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are both anti-malarial compounds and are very similar. Hydroxychloroquine is better tolerated.

SARS-CoV-2 is a modified version of SARS-CoV and in the same family of viruses as MERS.

From that link:

Detailed Description:
Since hydroxychloroquine is a low cost and safe anti-malaria drug that has proven effects against COVID-19 in vitro.

Seems they're already aware it is a safe and effective drug.

They should since this trial is in phase 3.

Here is an actual controlled study.

The U trial was the first in the world to assess whether hydroxychloroquine could prevent the onset of COVID-19 in people exposed to the novel coronavirus that causes it, and the first placebo-controlled double-blind study of the drug’s effect on COVID-19. Blinding means that patients didn’t know whether they took vitamins or drugs, and researchers didn’t know either.

Effective, in vitro. Yes. That's what it says.

The results of the experiment should be available in a couple of weeks.
