A pet cat has been found with COVID-19 in the UK.

There is no information available as yet to say if the cat has infected humans, or that there is any evidence to say it could infect humans,
So, I suppose not much to go then, but to take the ususal precautions as described in the link.

"The UK’s Chief Veterinary Officer has confirmed that the virus responsible for COVID-19 has been detected in a pet cat in the UK.

The infection was confirmed following tests at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) laboratory in Weybridge on Wednesday 22 July.

Although this is the first confirmed case of an animal infection with the coronavirus strain in the UK, there is no evidence to suggest that the animal was involved in transmission of the disease to its owners or that pets or other domestic animals are able to transmit the virus to people."

In edit, I'm also adding this Q&A link, dealing with animal to human infection.

Looking forward to the upcoming cat quarantines and kittehs wearing masks. Maybe the evil little boogers will get some bailout money too.

News media made a statement a few months back that you could infect your cat and be infected by your cat. Pretty sure I read it on yahoo news but cant find it now.

Bailout money!!

Unfortunately, it looks more like there are going to be a lot of homeless pet pussys roaming about the country, who have been kicked out of the house, I'm already suspicious that pets have already been dropped off, since the first mention of pet animals being infected, we already have, 'strays' around here.

There was mention about people infecting a cat/s, I don't recall it being said of the other way round, anyway the link is to a government press release from just a few hours ago, so there may be updates.

Further confirming that people are stupid.

The last thing I'd do if my pet got the 'Vid would be to abandon it.

Pretty much just food packages and some token Farmfoods vouchers that were handed out over here unless you are a business or company.

So they wee pussies should not get there hopes up as to Boris bailing them out.

But how are we going to keep them 6 feet apart? It will be worse than herding cats.

I remember early on they where saying dogs and cats can get the China bug.

This just makes COVID even more mute, it only means everyone has had or will get COVID-19; and all this social distancing stuff is pointless.

You instantly trust this information?

The test results are quite random. It is like a coin toss. How can fruit test positive for covid? How are untested people testing positive?

I don't think we have been doing much right for a while aside from making the super-rich better off at the expense of everyone else.

And by design no less.

Poor cats have not got a look in unless its the fatcats in their ivory towers.

Same over here.

The Bezos is making bank on this government fueled shutdown and it's being taken from small businesses and the middle class.

Exactly!

Also, in that second link I added, it appears to say that Mink can transfer the virus to humans, I'm not sure about why this selectivity business though...it seems like someone is not telling it straight.

I had an alternative plan in mind for defeating feline COVID transmission.
