So this has been swirling around in most forums for the last couple of hours. For those who don't know what's going on I think the best way forward is to show the clip.

twitter.com...

Pick any clip. Some are clearer, some not, but you do have to focus to hear what's being said. One group is saying she said "I think you're a lying bitch."

Halkett has come forward and stated she said "Okay, you don't want to engage."

The first clip I watched was from Gateway Pundit which pretty much said she called Mcenany a lying bitch. Listened to the clip and heard it clearly.

Then I read the later article where Halkett said the don't want to engage statement.

Here's the thing. After reading that and listening to it with that phrase in mind I clearly heard her say that!

What kind of mental sorcery is going on with this?

At 3:37 into this song, what do you hear-

A) One of these days I’m going to cut you into little pieces

Or

B) One of these days I’m going to dance with the evil king

In regards to the press conference, I heard “engage”.

It’s no different than the blue/gold dress, or that laurel thing that was going around a while back.

said she called Mcenany a lying bitch

So what?
Why does that matter?
Why do you even care?

What does it matter to us? Seriously.

If the reporter was out of line in terms of proper protocol for these press conferences, it's a matter for the organizers to decide and take appropriate action.

I don't care what she said. Not one whit. If she thinks McEnany is a lying liar, okay. She's allowed her opinion. If she didn't say that, okay too.

If it's really that big an issue, then let's start by losing the virtue-signalling face masks that naturally and expectedly distort speech and impede clear communication.

Auditory hallucinations are a very real thing.

We need all of our senses to work in unison to have an even partial grasp on the reality that surrounds us.

Confirmation bias. Without it, things like the gateway pundit wouldn’t exist. It’s all designed to sell you a fake bill of goods.

Personally I heard the "lying bitch" comment, but to be fair, I read both options before I even listened to the video, so it's hard to know whether I heard it correctly or if my brain was led down that path. I think it would've had more effect if you asked us what we heard without putting any suggestions in the original post. /shrug

I heard clearly, "Okay, you don't want to engage."

But it makes no difference to the person that heard something different.

The internet has become a cess pool of constant manipulation of our psyche.

When you can't believe what you see or hear, it becomes a battle to know what to say. Do I speak the truth, or am I just spreading a lie? Maybe it is time that we save the sharing of this poisonous weapon, until we have a better understanding of exactly why they are using us, and exactly how it us going to destroy us.

This battle is not against one group of humans against another, or whether they have Stars upon Thars, or not. If one group of us gets wiped out, the others goes with it. They are getting us to do their dirty work for them.

Some are warning us. It is being said a million times a day on the internet, warnings signs are flashing everywhere, "Road out ahead!" Yet too many are still driving at break neck speed, off the cliff.

We really are smart enough to know that anything they don't want us to see or hear, will never see the light of day. We see what they want us to see. We hear what they want us to hear. They even told you they would.

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the outer limits.

We can do better.

But it makes no difference to the person that heard something different.

To be specific, it makes no difference to the person who mistakes his opinion for fact.

No one knows what she said except she herself. We do know that face masks distort language and make it difficult to understand what others are saying. We do know that she claims she stated otherwise, and that it is possible that she is telling the truth.

The internet has become a cess pool of constant manipulation of our psyche.

No. The internet has become a cess pool of constant confirmation of our biases. Every day people read and see things on the internet that they reject outright. No one believes everything they find on the internet. They are quite capable of rejecting much of what they find. People embrace what they want and reject what they want.

When you can't believe what you see or hear, it becomes a battle to know what to say. Do I speak the truth, or am I just spreading a lie?

It's quite simple not to lie and just say, "I don't know." It's also possible to not presume to know what cannot be known. It's also possible to differentiate between face and opinion.

Those who do not do so by choice. Not manipulation. Not brainwashing. Not anything outside themselves. People make that choice for themselves and by themselves. No one forces anyone to think anything.

I noticed something when I was a young metal head. If you listen to some death metal songs it's just a lot of incomprehensible noise and growls. If you listen to them while reading the lyrics all that noise forms into actual words. Weird, huh?

If she wasn't wearing a mask then we would know.

People are too vicious when it comes to Trump or anyone he hires or anyone that supports him. Democrats have created this, and now here we are.

As citizens we should respect the office even if you dislike the person.

She obviously said "bitch".

"Engage" makes zero sense in the context.

Hopefully this bitch is removed from the press pool.

You made me laugh. I have relatives that are hard of hearing. You have to be right in front of them, speaking slowly and very precisely, for them to understand what they are hearing you say, and they still often get it wrong.

Sometimes the stuff they hear you say is hilarious. With face masks, my relatives are unable to decipher what anyone is saying accurately. Body language, facial expressions, and mood, is included in accurate understanding of communications.

Or people are going to hear what they hear without someone saying what they think they hear. Ironic to hear you talk about confirmation bias.

I don't disagree with you.

Our values, beliefs, and ideals are constructed from a variety of sources. Unfortunately, the internet has become a source that uses a variety of tools to influence what you think, say, or do.

Confirmation bias is just favoring information that supports what you have already chosen to believe.

I get it, my hearing was messed up as a child, and now again as an adult it's getting bad (too much rock and roll).

When i was a kid I swore that the theme to G.I.JOE was "G I JOE, he married a hero".

I have to wear a mask for work now (bar tender), the only thing that bothers me about it is that i use facial expressions more than words to communicate with people in person, so now I have to learn to talk to people more.

It really is amazing what senses can do with an incomplete set of information. Everyone's eyes have a blind spot that our brains just fill in using the information around them, sometimes it causes us to "see" things that aren't really there.

I understand. My hearing is fairly acute. I was born with eye issues that affected my peripheral vision, and causes me to have negative visual perception, so I am always having to fill in the blanks.

I depend more on what I find hard to describe, but living things project an energy that can be palpable. I can sometimes sense their moods and feelings, even if they obscure them with smiles and laughter. People that appear angry or tough, may actually project just the opposite.

We rely on our senses more when communicating than we may realize.

I agree with @Drucifer. Like the color of a dress or Laurel and Yanni, this is just another situation where people hear something different. Mondegreens I think become more recognizable and problematic, for some, when emotions run high about a particular issue. Not many care if you miss sing a popular song.
