U.S. Soldier Charged With Plotting to Let Neo-Nazis Ambush His Army Unit

The new top federal prosecutor in Manhattan on Monday announced her first case since the weekend’s upheaval: the arrest of a U.S. Army soldier charged with plotting a deadly ambush of his unit in Turkey by extremists.

In a release, Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss called Private Ethan Melzer, 22, of Louisville, Kentucky, “the enemy within.”

His lawyers declined comment.

“Melzer was motivated by racism and hatred as he attempted to carry out this ultimate act of betrayal,” Strauss said.

William F. Sweeney Jr., head of the FBI’s New York office, said: “Melzer declared himself to be a traitor against the United States, and described his own conduct as tantamount to treason.

if the above have been posted already then apologies, cuz I could not find any previous threads dealing with it....that said WTH is going on???...I knew of White supremacist scumbags infiltrating the police forces and I've have often posted on it here on. ATS...But the military??? ...I'm kinda surprised, and no ! I'm not naive, I just thought they were better at screening.

Are there a lot of Turkish Neo-Nazis?

Closest i can think of is the Grey Wolves, but they are Ottoman Restorationists, not National Socialists.

They are good at screening otherwise he would not be caught. He's a jihadist terrorist. He was trying to get the info to Islamic terrorist from what I read using a neo Nazi group. Strange guy and also an idiot. He was using his cell phone and uploading crap to the cloud.

Hopefully he spends his time in the federal pen doing hard labor, they could even put him in the Colorado supermax with all the other domestic terrorists.
This guy was only a bottom feeding private, could he really have advance knowledge of anything unit wise other than how many guys in his unit and types of weapons they have?
Unless these terrorists got the drop on them while they were sleeping, I really doubt they would have done much damage to them while out on patrol.
They are a fully trained army unit.

Ex Navy myself, that's why it kinda stung for me, not saying there were never any individual racist in the military, but during my stint, something like an org was rare.

From what I understand, the military isn't quite what it used to be. When my Uncle went to basic for the Marines in the late 60's, he let out a little laugh when the guy next to him farted and he (my Uncle) was punched in the gut and brought to his knees. I'm extremely thankful for our military and the sacrifices most of our men give up, but they're not made into soldiers like they used to be. That's why we end up with Bergdahls and Melzers committing treason or guys wanting to be turned into girls, like Beck - the former Navy SEAL - and Bradley Manning...

What is it with Nazis and Satanism these days?

Yeah the article makes him sound like a total whackjob. Described himself as committing treason.

Sounds to me like he’s wanting to get the death penalty to become a martyr for his cause.

Forget that, put the little POS against a wall and shoot him. If it should happen to take a few rounds to finish the job, so be it, it'll give him time to reflect on what he planed for his unit.

The Order of Nine Angles (ONA or O9A; also the Order of the Nine Angles[19]) is a Satanic and Left-Hand Path occult group based in the United Kingdom, but with associated groups in various other parts of the world. Claiming to have been established in the 1960s, it rose to public recognition in the early 1980s, attracting attention for its neo-Nazi ideologies and activism. Describing its approach as "Traditional Satanism", it has been identified by academic researchers as also exhibiting Hermetic and modern Pagan elements in its beliefs.

Yeup! Nut job, pedigree is at least 60 yrs tho,

Just amplify that stuff.

Meanwhile, at Ft. Hood a second soldier has gone missing. This young lady told folks about some kind of nefarious crap going on, and her concern for her safety. Apparently, there is organized crime within the US Army, and theyll kill their own while commissioning their crimes.

In other worse: the US army is a cross section of society, although weighted heavily in favor of the less intellctual in our society due to the fact that they seem to exploit dumb young people with a history of "issues" so much during recruitment.

They don't exploit anyone. Volunteer force. Free education, medical, food, housing, pension. Opportunity for advancement to every rank. What other jobs offers all those perks. The odds of getting killed are so low, better odds of dying in a car crash.

Wow that's harsh, and yet maybe the truth at the sametime, weed them out, get back to basics, better to have a few smart ones, than lots of dumb ones, the military don't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel or else we end up in a situation like Vietnam.
