I saw no difference in the number of people wearing and not wearing masks when I was out yesterday, so that means they either didn't get the memo, or
they aren't listening.
I think the businesses are the ones that have to make the call on how heavy they will enforce the mask rule, and their revenues are going to dictate
that. I heard a place in Palm Beach County lost their liquor license because they were not strictly enforcing the distancing and mask rules.
They are definitely going about it all wrong. I embarrassingly admit that I am one of the people that become highly rebellious if you try to "make" me
do something I don't want to do or I don't believe in. Taking the bad ass, tough guy, strong armed approach is not going to improve compliance, and is
likely to make the situation worse.
It doesn't help when you are dealing with an area where they were hoodwinked into believing that the shut down was only for 14 days and until the
curve flattened, then darn near four months later they are still moving the game post. At some point you have to realize something is seriously wrong,
and more and more people are coming out of their calm slumber to face the awakening nightmare.
The majority of these people have played by the ever changing rules for over three months. They "know" they aren't sick, they "know" they are not
infectious, and they are willing to take their changes with their neighbors, because not to do so shows no hope and no benefit.
We out here in the backwoods self isolated for 45 to 52 days. After that we had enough and started mingling again. With the rest of world seeming to
have gone to Hell in a hand basket, we became closer and tighter than we have ever been. There are a lot of good things that came out of this
sabbatical, but people have to get on with their lives and the government is not leading us where we want to go.
We have to decide if we want to continue as a country with a government, by and for the people, or if we want to be a country of people ruled by the
government. We really have to make up our minds, and we have to stop expecting that this is going to go away, or that there is going to be some
cavalry, just beyond the horizon coming to the rescue.
