To me the tree makes a sound no matter if anyone hears it or not.

When someone rings my doorbell and I'm not at home I didn't hear it ring.

Lets say a deaf person and a person able to hear experience the same tree falling the tree made a sound and didn't make a sound at the same time.

Did it make a sound then?

No gentlemanly posturing required : we have a sweet set-up. She sits on the big comfy couch, just an arm's length away.
She is old-school Catholic, and has never doubted the existence of God. So we don't talk about that.
Nice to be able to come online, and have a wide variety of subjects to peruse.

No : the tp is not previously used...

How can a person not doubt a God exists without evidence? Still many people must be thinking God is a made up concept to ridicule. Without God existing nobody could believe a god exists but they don't know. They must be thinking there's no power in God.

Similar to the tree question. Would God exist if nobody believed in Him? Of course he would. God is not dependent on human activity.

Go get God in the court.

Here you go.
God in the Dock, C.S. Lewis

It's from a Christian perspective. I don't remember much, it was like 1978 or so when I read it. So no spoilers from me.

"guys please!? Really? Don't you have more important issues?"

That question has been answered. page 51

The end of the karma/re-incarnation cycle is Nirvana.
Complete one-ness with Brahman is Nirvana.
Nirvana is annihilation.
Brahman is annihilation.
Annihilation is Nothing.
====================
So once you know nothing
why not just move on
and live until you die?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If that has been answered already then we must be regressing here.

There is nowhere, or nothing to move-on to.
An ATS member whom has not logged-in for a while ( JimNasium ): suggested a book for that question :
Doing Nothing: Coming to the End of the Spiritual Search.
Bought it, but didn't read it..... yet ? LoL !

And so the question remains : Now what ?

I sort of remember someone offering that. Can't remember who. Can't remember when.

I may be recovering from that memory problem.

The tree moves air but it takes and ear and a brain to process it to make sound... I have ringing in my head right now due to tinnitus is there sound? My brain says so...

Is God real or a human abstract thought? Was Zeus real too?

If the tree would not make a sound then sound doesn't exist.

Well you know: It has been written
2 Timothy 3

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Oh man! We be in the last days!

It does if you were there to process it into sound, and if you are not there then no sound is processed...How do we get space sounds...lol We process something that isn't a sound at all...

He was the God of Gods...Why did humans have so many Gods in the past? The reason was we didn't understand much so we threw Gods in there to explain it all. Now we know a lot and so we just use one God to explain what we can not explain...see a pattern here?

That's what she said in ... shoot, I forgot to give that piece of multimedia presentation a name. Well it will be in good company. Aristotle's Metaphysics didn't have a name either, so they named it after the book before it.

And so the question remains : Now what ?

Vaya con dios!

Yeah : those points were covered in this thread, but personally don't have those answers for you.

Lets say a deaf person and a person able to hear experience the same tree falling the tree made a sound and didn't make a sound at the same time.

Here : the answer may be within your own words.
What is the difference between the experience of the deaf, and the hearing ? Perception ?
