It’s an unknown mystery with no real convincing hypothesis and so I wouldn’t like to speculate. It certainly opens up the floor to many possibilities, including conscious interference rather than natural evolution.

Im not saying it was aliens.. but it was aliens.

I remember when the weather was caused by god as well.. disease, god.. earthquakes, god.. plagues, god.. eclipse, god..famine.. you get the picture.

“Opposition to godliness is atheism in profession and idolatry in practice. Atheism is so senseless and odious to mankind that it never had many professors.”

The words of Newton, not me. Was he a mindless uneducated fool devoid of insight as well?

God has many interpretations, Deism does not require a creator to have influence beyond setting the system into motion.

“How came the bodies of animals to be contrived with so much art, and for what ends were their several parts?
Was the eye contrived without skill in Opticks, and the ear without knowledge of sounds?...and these things being rightly dispatch’d, does it not appear from phænomena that there is a Being incorporeal, living, intelligent...?“

Good job entirely missing the point. Throughout history people have been replacing "I dont understand" with "must have been god."

I didn’t miss the point, I just didn’t think it applied to me as it doesn’t align with my beliefs. It appears you know what I think better than I do. Either that or you’re extremely arrogant.

Again, what’s your understanding of universal expansion and the so called “Big Bang”?

Seems unless you can assign any kind of probability to a hypothesis that the concept of intelligent creation and design is equally plausible as whatever alternative you believe in.

Ostentatious grandstanding is not a substitute for constructive debate. That’s my problem with Atheism, any ideology which claims to understand the nature of reality with rigid belief when there’s many unknown variables is incomplete and narrow minded.

So now God didn't really create anything? .

He was just hanging out and stumbled upon all of the mass/energy in existence (which has always existed and always will) in the form of a dense singularity, and did something or other to make it expand? Is it still expanding now only because of something god did (?) or is it just mass and energy doing what they do (?) according to their nature? Did god make the apple fall on newton's head (?) or was it just matter and energy doing what they do according to their nature?

See how people who believe in god are constantly moving the goalposts? As our understanding increases they all keep saying "well.. god didnt really cause the storm thats silly.. gods dont really cause disease or earthquakes or wars or plants to grow or the sun to rise day after day.. we know better now" BUT god definately created all matter and energy (nope it has always existed, oops AGAIN).. now its, well we dont know what set it all in motion.. had to be god...

I think your conflating the concept of creation with religious interpretations of God. You can believe in intelligent design without prescribing to religious belief.

You can’t ascribe a single belief you just made to me, so don’t.

Your contemptuous dismissal of other people’s beliefs stinks of arrogance.

Who was the intelligent designer if not a "god" of some sort for lack of a better term? Back to aliens?
Wouldn't intelligent design suggest a creative power in this being? Dont many theists argue that a creative god has to exist because something had to make all of this? Isnt that exactly the argument being made in this thread?

Even Einstein, one of the prophets of science never dismissed the idea of creation or intelligent design. I’d say he understood the physics underpinning reality more acutely than both of us combined.

For the record im Agnostic, so you can stop with the nonsensical stereotyping you’re peddling.

Interpretations of God can be personal without the invocation of mainstream religious ideology. If you would treat people with respect and listen rather than blind dismissal that might become apparent.

Opinions are like assholes and assholes like opinions. In my opinion you’re behaving like an asshole. Not sure what that makes me.

Im also agnostic. Do you want a sticker? I have been describing the arguments of people who believe in god.. it isnt my fault they are silly.

Yet your attributing those beliefs to me without engaging in the actual conversation.

I don’t think you’re exhibiting the narrative of someone who is Agnostic or open to the concept of creation. Far from it.

You’re suggesting you don’t deny the possibility of creation while at the same time labelling those who believe in it as silly. Hypocrisy personified.

Also, stop being so rude, it’s not clever or funny.

Wrong on both counts. Im addressing your points and questions while you are not actually addressing any of my points or questions.. youre just acting offended and sad and mad for no good reason.

I mean just about anything is possible beyond the fringes of our understanding. Im addressing arguments claiming to prove the existence of god and you seem very weepy and upset when i make these arguments look silly (which seems odd for an agnostic).

You have been far more rude than I have.

As your points are simplistic and designed without integrity. I can’t define god for others nor do I claim religions offer any kind of truth. I can only argue about my opinions, none of which you have addressed.

Im not sure that you have. You did suggest that while god might not created matter/energy that god might have set it all in motion.

Are you confused about the topic of this thread?

No, I’m confused by your lack of reading comprehension and disappointed by your total lack of respect for the beliefs of other members.
