In the midst of its effort to drive censorship concerned users away from Twitter, the social media app Parler released its own “Declaration of Internet Independence.” While it reads like a bit of a gimmick at times, Parler calls it a “plan to return to the original vision of the internet.”

In late May, Parler kicked off its #Twexit campaign following a heated online conflict between Twitter and President Donald Trump. Twitter flagged and fact-checked Trump’s comments on the George Floyd civil rights protests in Minnesota – leading to Trump calling for the revoking of Section 230 for the social media platform. That revocation would mean Twitter loses its immunity from lawsuits if controversial material gets tweeted.

My wife signed up on it last night and the users so far seem pretty friendly.

I'm still deciding whether After ATS I'm just going feral or try someplace else online.

Just to Echo DB, people fighting back against censorship in a capitalistic way... GREAT.

long over due, hope they hold on to the even handed thinking cause once folks get happy the trolls will come running.

I signed up to Parler after LSU 2018 suggested it. It's not bad, limited viewpoints and mostly conservative needs more participants. But we shall see. Also revisited old sites I joined in the Fringe and the Straight Dope, gonna take some getting used too, none are as comprehensive as ATS.

Do let people know where you end up always enjoy your viewpoints

just joined yesterday , never been on facebook or twitter. So far I like it but not sure how to use all of it yet .

Both Parler & Gab seem a little 'dorky' compared to twitter but they haven't had a decade doing business with bazillions of online users either.
All new platforms require diligent usage to become proficient. A comparative youtube vid would be great.
I never facebooked because of the infuriating timeline sequencing crapola.

I read their TOS and it sounded like the typical TOS to me..."We reserve the right to ban users without warning or explanation" kind of thing (I'm paraphrasing).

So I thought I might hold back and see how it goes over there before making an account.

Do you have to give a phone number to join? I don't like that and probably won't join if they require one.
