I’ll probably catch hell for this. But as you know I say what I mean and stand behind what I say .

That’s sad this is more meant to the officers in Atlanta.

You can’t shoot people unless they are shooting at you or have a deadly weaponand are threatening your life . Stun guns don’t make the grade . (especially now) It’s not worth it unless your life is in danger .

The cost to the country everytime it happens is to great in property damage, violence , and civil disturbances . Not to mention politically .

People are to angry and for the last two deaths I’ve got to agree .

Derek Chauvin’s “ arrest “ made no sense whatsoever . He worked with the man up till about a year ago .

If you know someone personally you don’t walk up throw him on the ground and stick your knee in his neck for nine minutes . Whether you like him or not. I’ve seen police officers in similar situations it’s just not the way it’s done.

Peaceful tactics de-escalate the situation and lead to a better understanding of what is going . All cops know this. It will possibly get the police more information to boot.

The cops I know would’ve immediately said hey I know this guy which puts the subject at ease. What the hell happened George ? In all probability no one dies .

Derricks actions reek of revenge .

The confrontation in Atlanta could have been put to bed peacefully . If egos didn’t get in the way . The two officers wrestled him to the ground but couldn’t overpower him . Then he took off with a non-lethal weapon . Don’t even chase him send out a radio call for back up. The man is on foot for christ’s sake .

He was already question and given a sobriety test. So they know who he was and had his address .

Before the officers got trigger-happy they should’ve just let him go to get picked up later . If the helicopters and 20 other cruisers didn’t find him . More than likely he would’ve turned himself in when he sobered up. If not he would’ve been picked up eventually.

Do the police officers involved in these shootings and over the top violence live in a bubble? The cost is just too great.

I am very pro police and 9 times out of 10 I defend the officers in a shooting . (don’t jump on a car if you don’t have to ) But these last two incidents are so outrageous i’ve been left with no choice .

If your life is an imminent danger go for it. But use your head anytime else. Think about the civilians and brother officers that are going to be injured and possibly killed because of your actions.

Normally I’d say use your head for something besides a hat rack.

But lately I think “get your head out of your ass “ fits better.

I’ve heard there’s around 1 million police in the nation . I’d be willing to bet 900,000 officers did a facepalm when they heard what happened in Atlanta . ( facetious )

It works both ways tho , You have a movement pushing all cops are bad , and many of the supporters actually incite violence against police. They are on high alert because of that . When a hot moment happens with a suspect , tensions are high , adrenaline is pumping , emotions high. Yes police better trained and should be able to handle it . BUt they still are human . How about we start with stop breaking the damn law , running , then resisting. I am not justifying the shooting. But i understand . Both sides bring it out . But problem is everyone just wanna blame the cops. They have a customer service job and many of their calls are for negative reasons and nobody wants a visit from the cops . This national anti-police democrat doctrine is very dangerous for everyone .....

Man this is just going to give the media more fuel to their let's get rid off the police narrative that they are pushing right now.

NYT is already pushing the abolish the police narrative ....Not defund, ABOLISH.

The whole world has gone insane.

Yes, We Mean Litrally Abolish the Police

Congressional Democrats want to make it easier to identify and prosecute police misconduct; Joe Biden wants to give police departments $300 million. But efforts to solve police violence through liberal reforms like these have failed for nearly a century.

Enough. We can’t reform the police. The only way to diminish police violence is to reduce contact between the public and the police.

You certainly have some good points .

But I’d like to make it clear that I don’t and will never demonize the cops .

But some are complete boneheads.

I’ve been in a few high adrenaline confrontations that could’ve ended badly . A couple involving guns .

They didn’t and I have zero training .

The issue in Minneapolis is baffling and makes no sense whatsoever . Unless Derek was carrying a grudge . No amount of training can compensate for that and I will never defend that man.

In Atlanta I’ve watched the tapes . In my opinion ego took precedence over adrenaline or training . He basically kicked their ass before he took off . Getting your ass beat is one of the worst insults a egomaniac can be handed .

Sure a lot of people bring it on theirselves and in Atlanta it would’ve ended completely differently if he would’ve complied . It’s no need to police officers that drunks don’t always comply . The guy was fleeing the scene .

But you seem to be missing my point . In the current political environment do you find it justifiable to shoot someone that’s already out of range of the non-lethal weapon they possess .

My point in Atlanta isn’t whether they were completely right or wrong. The point is discretion when you know the countries gonna burn coast to coast .

Some police districts have the same policy for high-speed pursuit . Sometimes the person stole the car, sometimes it’s the owner of the car . Let them go and try to pick them up later . It’s not like the movies they don’t close with the car and open up on them .

As ugly as it may seem getting shot / or being injured . or dying is a part the consequences of breaking the rules , not obeying , resisting , running .

Would it be nice if nobody go hurt and nobody died ? Of course ... But it would also be nice if people didn't break the law which escalates it to that point..

Nobody wants it to get that far. But people also have blame in it . More blacks kill blacks . Vs tiny fraction of cops killing blacks . Yet we wanna focus on the cops ? Ignore the elephant in the room ? Why does black on black matter? Because the mentality to disobey police , run , resist comes from the black on black violence mentality and culture .

Millions of police interactions a year ... a very tiny fraction go bad... and we all of a sudden have a police crisis ? LOL

no .....

You said that before and I agreed.

As far as defund the police they just handed those morons more ammo .

As far as your other points. Yes I know and I’ve been discussing those for over 10 years . It’s absolutely nothing new to me .

How many police officers do you know personally ?

Yeah it would’ve been nice if nobody was killed .

That’s my point .

This needless act just threw gasoline on the fire .

I just heard on TV multiple back up units were there in under two minutes . You don’t have to shoot someone that fleeing .

Let me ask you a question to see how pragmatic you are in viewing incidents like this .

Did Rodney King deserve the beating he got ?

Adrenaline was the excuse then too.

Samantha Ramsey was a 18-year-old girl leaving a farm party in Boone county Kentucky .

When the police arrived on the scene she was halfway on the road moving slowly . A police officer jumped on the hood of the car and when the scared child wouldn’t stop he fire through the windshield killing her .

Adrenaline and fleeting the scene was the excuse then too.

So no I don’t buy that excuse in all circumstances .

I fully support the police but sometimes they’re dead wrong after all they’re only human .

This argument has predictably gone sideways because you’re missing my point .

A stupid statement like millions of cops in traffic stops doesn’t belong in this thread. I’m talking about two idiots and the fire storm they’ve ignited .

We've seen the shift to an authoritarian and militarized policing and justice system for decades. All ideologies have been targeted due to this, and some have short memory and call for it to tread on opponents only to cry foul when it finds it's way to them again.

Now part of this (large part IMO) is the fault of citizenry. They have become complacent, apathetic, and overly trusting of politicians and parties. I certainly can't support these idiots rioting about symptoms and result of larger root problems. They're just breaking laws and effecting regular citizens more than "the system" they claim to aim at. Maybe we can riot after most of the country actually votes and says f*** off to corporate punditry media while helping true information outlets to get more of a footing.

We have a long way to go. And while I think we just need to go back to that very visionary ideas laid out in the constitution. I don't have much hope though as many are rooting for the deterioration so long as their people are winning, most ironically those screaming at the right while almost all of these cities are run by the left. There is just no accountability or search for where these problems really come from.

Thank you for this post Fallingdown. I believe I understand your premise.

I too believe we are conditioned to believe at this point that if someone commits a crime, wrestles with cops and runs that it is ok to kill them.

It is not.

We are not supposed to be killing people in the streets committing crimes. We are supposed to be arresting them, even if that means they get away and more work is necessary.

It's been a slow but strange creep since the 90's where we are normalizing this type of thing over a $20 fake bill.

Non violent crimes should not be resolved this way ever. I understand that is not always possible due to perp actions but every single measure including letting some one freedom of movement even with the possibility of escape should be considered as opposed to killing someone.

No one should die for a non violent crime.

This needless act just threw gasoline on the fire

you know what first threw the gasoline in the fire ? the resisiting and running from police .....

I just heard on TV multiple back up units were there in under two minutes . You don’t have to shoot someone that fleeing

you don't know if he has a weapon untill after the fact . He could run and pull out a gun . Cops on high alert .

again.... don't run ..... don't resist ......why is this so difficult to understand ? Why put your self in a situation like that . especially if you believe all cops are bad ...

i view these incidents in a series of events.....cause and effect ... ebb and flow .... chain of events .

I don't walk into a lions cage ...get mauled ... come back out and blame the lion .

Nobody deserves a beating or death . But that doesn't change actions have consequences .

you don't understand your own points and wanna project that on me . You are a criminal apologist. Its okay . I'm a realist . I am a strong believer in play stupid games win stupid prizes....

you wanna fluff their pillow and make the police experience much nicer .... That will really change peoples opinions on police... i'm sure they will all line up and be real nice to the police after that !

i'm not familiar with that girls case..but i'm sure if i look into the story i'lll find the holes in that story that you left out to justify your nonsense .

All cops aren't bad . Police brutality is rare . Its sad when things like this happen but again

don't break the law, don't resist , don't run , don't try and steal cops gun , don't try and fight cops , don't try and shoot a tazer at police

why is this so difficult ? When things go south . Its hard to have sympathy ..... play stupid games......win s

I agree and thanks .

When I can I try to simplify things .

So I’ll ask everybody else who joins this thread .

What was your first thought when you heard about the shooting in Atlanta .

I can all but guarantee it was the same thought as mine.

Question for anyone who is trained in restraining someone. How, can you restrain someones head to prevent them biting you unless you use the knee technique. I am guessing just asking nicely isn't going to work. My opinion will take heat as well, if you don't want a knee on the back of your neck, first don't be put on the ground, don't want to be put on the ground cooperate with the officer and do not resist arrest. These videos only show the aftermath of confrontations where the arresting officer has finally subdued the criminal. It is amazing that the Floyd video stopped filming between when he falls to ground and then to knee on back of neck. There be some video missing where the meth head giant of a man resisted arrest that i personally want to see. Scale from 1 to 10 how hard is it to restrain a meth head who is going bezerk resisting arrest. I watched the show cops seems like damn near impossible if you ask me. Anyway if anyone has the missing footage its probably next to the moon landing missing footage. a reply to: Fallingdown

LOL i been saying that

don't break the law , don't resist , don't run , don't take cops gun etc...

But apparently these liberal nuts seem to ignore that basic fact and focus on the after the fact....

You don't walk into a lions den , get mauled and start trying to fix the lion instead of yourself for walking in there in the first place lol

OTOH, people who riot every time they get upset and make unreasonable demands for stopping the rioting are essentially just terrorists. There is no guaranteed right to riot in this country. I would even question the necessity of peaceful assembly, since nowadays every single person who owns an internet connected computer can peacefully protest without getting out on the streets and stirring up trouble. Which drastically reduces the threat to themselves and others no matter how you look at it.

I’m from the Uk so our rules are different - we don’t carry guns.

To me the police are simply persons doing their employments which must be one more f the most dangerous professions.

Now why is no one saying anything about the blacks firing on and killing police - that is killing normal people doing their normal job.
Think about it - we’ve just been through all this war on terror #e and in America a Muslim is just as likely to be black as he is Middle Eastern.
Is all that suppose to be forgotten. So suddenly we live in a world where crime will desist and bomb vests will just be for fashion.
People suddenly living in tranquility just because the people who’s employment has just been cancelled are not working for private security firms with little to no oversight.
Welcome to crime driven America. Whoever owns these ‘private security’ firms will now be the head of all the organised crime in that area. They will look to disarm all its residents and will even use force and kill black people to get it, because lockdown is not the norm and soon the rat race will begin again and the commercialised greed will be back. Once the move is made to abandon law and order without civil war it cannot be brought back only this will eventually lead to conflict between the government forces and the ‘private forces’..............who is to say that these ‘private forces’ won’t be foreign and so this could well be the opening moves of the left implanting foreign forces within America ready for war.
