Awe, that's cute.

Is that the new woke word cnn is telling you to parrot?

Since this isn't the pit. I'll let your reply slide.

But continue to white splain as you wish.

How who uses loaded terms like "whitesplain" to delegitimize and dismiss the words of others should not be offended when he's called "cute" and "woke".

I'm not offended.

Just pointing out the obvious white 'splaining going on: white folks trying to explain black concern to other blacks and whites.

bewilders me that so few posters around here seem to have the basic empathy to understand where this is coming from.

we live in drastically unequal society, millions in poverty, barely scraping by under what feels increasingly like an arbitrary and cruel police state, while the lucky rich live in opulence and safety. OF COURSE when frustrations and tensions boil over, this is the result. How could it be anything else?

I sincerely doubt that most of the looters care specifically about the TV they're making off with. Like sure, on a surface level, there's an opportunistic sort of "this is my chance for a big tv" thought process but as for what's motivating it, underneath, is a reaction to the capitalist state that values property over people. It's a judgement on the value of a tv vs the value of a life and a way of spitting in the eye of Capital.

Any of that make any sense to anyone? You need to open your heart to the fact that so many people feel trapped and hopeless in the world we've built. They don't see peaceful order in these streets, they see a trap they can't escape from, and one that is increasingly callous about killing their black siblings in the streets.
If that's not how you see it, try not to scoff, try to feel their plight.

A Tweet reporting the looting of a Nike store.
Might be a bit of irony there for Nike and their spokesman Kaepernick.

*white splain*

So, according to you, skin colour defines the human traits of sorrow and humility of which all skin colours understand - except white people?

I'm pretty sure you're just an intolerant brainwashed racist who can't work out how to start charging Trump rent for living in your head space.

I was just watching as the CBS studios were attacked. That security guard did the right thing.

And CNN building was attacked in Atlanta last night, which is completely counter productive to any kind of "protest" to get ones message across, because the media are carrying their message.

i just now read that apparently there was a police department in the CNN building???? so, the more you know, i guess

Or how Pence tweets "We support peaceful protests" but stages a walkout at an NFL game when they kneel in peaceful protest.

Hypocrites.

Yes, there is a precinct in the building. And CNN has security set up, with metal detectors, badges, and security detail, and plexiglass, in order to access CNN floors. They take your picture, give you a badge, search you, pat you down, and you get an escort.

But he didn't respect the protest or show solidarity, as he said should be respected.

First you need to separate the peaceful protesters from the criminals in your mind. Remember most protesters are not involved.

What you are watching are anarchists taking advantage of the protests and inciting, so they can loot and burn under cover. Many of them are just common thieves seeing this as a golden opportunity to steal.

Most importantly though, it's important to not blame the real protesters.

This is exactly what I expect President Trump to say, addressing the nation. It needs to be said so people understand what is really going on. The local police and National Guard are not going to allow the criminal activity to continue.

So Pence's walk out was not in and of itself a form of peaceful protest? Why was he bound to stay and see what they were doing?

Don't call him a hypocrite when he was counter-protesting. Or does he not have that right because he's white and you disagree with his expression?

No.

Yu show solidarity with something you agree with. He did not agree with the message of Kaepernick's protest although he respected his right to do it. To be hypocritical about it would have been to try to stop it. He did not do that. He made his own counter message which was, in and of itself, a protest.

You also show solidarity as a FN Vice President of a country in the face of injustice.

And he disrespected him by intentionally leaving, which makes him a hypocrite, by not standing in solidarity.

One also shows solidarity for the simple right to do it. "I may not agree, but I stand with your right to do it."
Especially from a VP.

That's the problem.

VP should stand in solidarity instead of pull a stupid political stunt because...he's the Vice President of the United States,.

He's a hypocrite.

Sorry, he has not obligation to do that.

It was explained at the time that to disrespect the flag is to disrespect the entire nation. If Kaepernick wants to do that, he can. It's his right, but no one, including one of the leaders and highest elected officials of that nation, has to join him in his nation-hatred, not even out of some kind of desire to pat him on the head and tell him it's OK to protest.

You do not get to call anyone a hypocrite for not joining Kaepernick at his antics. Do you think anyone has an obligation to approve of someone burning the flag or taking a giant dump on it too? You know if I support someone's right to protest and all? ...

Do abortion supporters have to join the pro-life activists in their prayers outside the clinics to show they support their right to protest at least?

As Vice President, he does have an obligation to stand up for Constitutional rights, even if he disagrees.

False narrative. The flag was never disrespected.

No one asked them to kneel.

You do not get to call anyone a hypocrite for not joining Kaepernick at his antics.

No, no one said anything about "joining," but I can for those claiming "America" while saying it's unAmerican disrespecting America for him to protest like he did when all he did was take a freaking knee.

He did.

He said Kaepernick had every right to do it, and he made no move to stop him. There is no obligation to stay and pretend he approves though.

The KKK may have every right to hold their marches, but that wouldn't have meant that Obama would have been under any obligation to stay and see it just to make sure everyone knew they had that right.

Wrong. Supporting peaceful protests only includes the support of free speech, not that no consequences will be forthcoming for the defaming of others those protests push as a message.

Staging a walkout was the other side of "peaceful protesting". They protested and defamed, Pence did the exact SAME THING BACK..
Or do you only support peaceful protesting by those exercising their TDS?

Get it now?
