The Politicians -----------
------------- The hypercorporate multinationals

The Cable Media--------

I'm not sure how it could be any clearer. In twenty years, Facebook, Google and Amazon (and others) will have their own standing armies and we will all be the underclass in their dystopian corporate "utopia."

Co-op can we good or bad there isn’t really any middle ground .

In Kentucky the best part is co-ops are required to have diesel back up generators . Which tickles the preppers pink .

Therefore it is impossible for a platform or a news organization to fact-check him or her on everything said or revealed.

So if Mr Trump says the sky is brown,

We can't go outside and look to see if it's blue?

Whilst I don;t agree with Twitter's bias, they are allowed to be biased. They are allowed to influence elections.

Unless they're Russians eh?

No, Russians are allowed to influence elections too. Anyone in the world is as long as they don;t break any laws in doing so.

What laws. The usa laws? Russia doesn't really need to follow the usa laws they have their own.

For those arguing that the government has no business regulating big tech because they are private companies, do you defend the Pharmaceutical companies right to charge as much as they want for life saving medications?

What if they decided to only sell those life saving medications to people who share their political views?

Does the government have the right /responsibility to take action to insure everyone has access to those life saving medications?

Is everyone about finished with hosing the place down with wanton ignorance yet?

If so, here is the actual Executive Order. It's written in English so it doesn't even need Google Translate. Some of the words might have more than 5 letters, but you can't have everything.

All it does is two things: if Twitter publishes a post or reply, they can be sued if that post or reply is false and thus harms someone. That's one. Two is the biggie: Twitter must abide by its own rules in removing posts or face potential civil lawsuits.

That all it does.

Section 230 was put in place to allow online social media outlets to delete posts that might be disturbing to its customers... porn, gore, that kind of thing. The idea was to make it easier for social media sites to protect children viewers from that kind of stuff. It was never intended to be a cover to remove political posts in violation of their own requirements for posting. Now, with this Executive Order, Twitter and Facebook have to follow their own rules.

Nothing in it stops them from changing their rules. They can add in a rule, to the effect of: "Any conservative posts that disagree with the political positions of the editors may be declared in violation of these rules and removed." Then they can remove all the posts they want! Of course, they might run into a legislative problem if most of the social media sites do that and all have the same politics (which they do)... that could be seen as an anti-trust issue. But they can do it.

Nothing in it removes protection from being sued over content in third-party posts. Nothing. Anyone who thinks that is leaking ignorance out of both ears. it actually makes it more legally hazardous to remove posts than to leave them up.

I say this is a good thing and a fair thing. If some guy in a bakery can be sued and run out of business for not wanting to bake a cake, Twitter can be sued and run out of business for promoting a social agenda they deny in their own rules and for posting falsehoods.

So, I'm curious ... what's the test for a person's or companie's degree of "leftness"?

Who's going to define that? Who's going to measure it?

Where are ALL THESE PEOPLE who are being censored unjustly?

What's the difference between a lie and a mistake and how would you know?

You understood the position of JarJar as a useful idiot to the formation of The Empire? And that it took nearly 20 years to finally disband the Senate, ending the Republic finally, right?

Even in A New Hope, Obi Wan still has that Jedi mindset of holding the lightsaber for everyone to see that what happened was Jedi business. A level of complacency that caused the fall of the Jedi and the Republic from quite frankly hubris.

Well that is the question that can not be answered, can it when it is a private company within their secret/controlled corporate environment controlling it all? They don't even need to follow their own rules, or just follow them as it suits them.

You can lie all day long, its not a crime and not fraud. Every human "lies" everyday.... do they not?

ATS has a HOAX bin they dump lies and falsehood in. What standard do you hold ATS staff and mods to?

Why are you trying to make this about ATS?

Red Herring much?

If you don't like it here you know what to do.

ATS is not a podium. Twitter is.

Does ATS have dozens if not hundreds of so called high profile morons proclaiming left wing propaganda as truth, unhindered? Yet every single sentiment against such, denied?

No.. It's open.. it allows opposing opinion. It does not censor nor state "ATS does not approve of this comment." on subjects it disagrees with, despite it's readership.

In fact, I've seen mods for both sides of a political argument, post in the same thread, and get along just fine.

Twitter? No, you're a subversive personality, we ostracise you.

It's a left wing propaganda unit... and you're OK with it, apparently.

Because ATS is, like Twitter, a private forum with its own T&C. You don't have problems with complying with ATS T&C but you throw a hissy fit at twitter for doing the same as ATS?!

ATS is like the tiny bakery that got sued for not baking a cake for a gay couple. Just because ATS isn't a big as Twitter doesn't mean that laws don't apply or have consequences for both ATS and Twitter alike.

Twitter did nothing but fact check his claim and Trump flipped his lid , government control or influence over freedom of expression on the internet is a bad thing and nothing to be celebrated.

ATS is a completely different forum. It's a collusion of minds. Twitter is a place for people to spout crap.

Get over it, already got pinged for you... don't need to state any more.

Doesn't this new algorithm limit your audience?

I don't know, I don't use the thing... I'm sure I read it somewhere, before it got banned..

This is hilarious!

What a bunch of babies these "right" wingers are, they're even more of a joke than the sheep following obama a decade ago!

Not one of them is smart enough to setup their own digital platform, so they just keep babbling about the leftists holding them down instead of learning some basic programming.

Idiots

Or are they worried that the legions of digital supporters are too stupid to figure out how to switch platforms...

This is all such a joke
