Actually there is a big push right now to move manufacturing to India and Japan. I believe the Trump admin is considering paying for moving costs to companies that want to do it.

Yes and Vietnam. Thailand is one of the biggest hard drive manufacturers/assemblers in the world...or were.. there are companies talking about moving their operations (auto assembly etc) out of Thailand to Vietnam ... Many companies are not happy with the Thai government's love affair with China.. especially since the darling little communist Vietnamese might smile and shake hands with the Communist Chinese but the bad blood runs deep between those two....

I do hope the world wakes up to just how low down sneaky and back stabbing the CCP/PLA really is and does all they can to sever ties with a country that will shoot you in the back and smile because you were stupid to turn your back to them in the first place....

With facing up to 4 years in jail or worse you gotta hand it to the citizens of Hong Kong for not bending over and taking it from the CCP. Problem is, signs and chants do not do much to deter a determined police force or a military tasked with breaking up any protest..

Protesters march along a downtown street during a pro-democracy protest against Beijing's national security legislation in Hong Kong, Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Several thousand people marched nevertheless, chanting slogans which became a familiar refrain in the city during the over six months of anti-government unrest, including "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times."

They were met with water cannons and tear gas in many cases after the government called the protest illegal.. China has the fastest laws in the east if anyone does something they do not approve of IMO...But they only make the laws if someone is watching...just ask the Uyghars.

The only reason it has taken the CCP this long to move against Hong Kong is world opinion and the money this would have cost them IMO.

At one time Hong Kong was a big slice of China's GDP 18% and now because of the mainland China's growth Hong Kong only represents 3%.
www.vox.com...

When China gained control of Hong Kong in 1997, it represented an economically significant addition to the territory under Beijing's control. Mainland China had almost 200 times as many people as Hong Kong, yet they did not even produce six times as much stuff. In the 17 years since the handover, though, the Chinese economy has grown a lot faster than Hong Kong's economy has:

Honestly, as someone living in Hong Kong, I can tell you these protests in 2019 was not as peaceful as how the western media portrayed it to be. The latest news from yesterday is that the people that set an old man on fire, and cheered while he was burned alive during the so-called peaceful protest have successfully escaped Hong Kong, and now starting a new life in Taiwan. The people that helped them escape is now in custody. I bet no western news source will report on this.

Copy and paste “香港暴徒” on YouTube and see. There are a lot of violence that you will never see from western news source.

The man set on fire incident:

Here is another one that the media will not report on. A taxi driver got brutally beaten because he had a tiny China flag in his car. I don’t know if he made it as there were no follow up.

The CCP staged a self-immoliation in Tiananmen square to paint Falun Gong in a bad light and faked an attack on soldiers Link to trigger the Tiananmen massacre among many many other false flags. I am not going to trust anything regarding HK as far as they are concerned. They have no problem killing their own to sway public opinion.

I'm not saying the incident is one way or the other, but the reality is HK was fighting for its life as a free society against the CCP and lost. I can't blame the protesters for being not so peaceful considering what was at stake. A person wouldn't just sit there and let someone rape his wife after all. There is a limit to human forbearance.

Tiananmen Square happened 30 years ago, it has nothing to do with the Hong Kong unrest. Let me ask a simple question, what freedom has been taken away since 1997? What are the things that can be done under British rule that got taken away now?

Anyone remember how the riots began? It was triggered by the government postponing the extradition law that the people did not like. The HK government did come out and promised in a press conference that they will no longer push the extradition law until everyone can come to an agreement. Then the next day the rioters went ahead and trashed the legislative council building anyway. It was awkward! Whoever was behind this obviously didn’t expect the Hk government or China government to give in. But their “plan” has to proceed to fulfil their anti-China agenda, and hence the year long destruction and never-ending accusations and lies.

Freedoms lost:

1. You can now be sent to the mainland for trail. You know what happens there.
2. You can be arrested for simply speaking against the government -- singing certain songs etc.
3. It's all fine until they decide your comments don't align.

Would you agree that there were very suspicious and almost certainly paid CCP thugs infiltrating the protesters and police were absolutely "filled in" with pro CCP forces? This should be enough. You seriously can't be thinking of the two sides, the CCP is right? You are smarter than that. I know deep down you know.

Who would you trust if they picked you up in a car and said they just wanted to talk to you down at the station? The CCP or anyone not the CCP? it is really that simple. It'w like people who defended Michael Jackson having little boys in his bed. "Would you let your kid sleep in the same bed? "..."No Way!"

I watched most of the protests live over 2019/20 culminating in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University battle, it was also interesting to see how both sides evolved their tactics in that time.

Anyway, my point is nothing has changed there, it may have disappeared from the news for a while, but it's not over, think of HK as a simmering pot

Thanks. Unfortunately, the U.S. is now in a similar boat with a similar (really the same) adversary -- the crushing specter of progressivism/socialism/communism >> loss of traditional values, celebration of dysfunction, loss of freedoms, censorship, state-controlled media etc.

The US is a disaster zone and has been for a long time, zero respect for other nations, completely irrational and out of control, and regardless of Trump or Biden or whatever, Washington is rife with political criminals

These 3 points you listed weren’t an issue before the 2019 riots (Hong Kong independence movement). There were true peaceful protests every single year, people held all sort of insulting signs including fake coffins with HK ceo headstone etc. No one was ever arrested. Falonggong even has a permanent booth in the busiest district in HK and nobody cared.

I do not support the 2019 riots, doesn’t mean I support CCP or HK government (our government do suck big time). These rioters said they are fighting for our freedom, fighting for our democracy. But what I saw was almost close to tyranny. I watched live broadcast every weekend, I saw how they deal with people that held a different point of view. The first few times I thought I witnessed murder on TV live, I even lost sleep about it...until I see it so many times that I eventually got used to the brutality. Burning, beating, dousing corrosive liquid you name it, never imagined this level of lawlessness could be portrayed as “peaceful protest” by the very biased western media. I guess I’m just venting here, it irks me every time I see media reporting “HK peaceful protesters blah blah”
