I do understand his frustration, the Tories gutted mental health support of various kinds. Stephen Fry was asking me to give MIND £10 on the TV the other day.

These institutions and charities were struggling before 08 so I can only imagine the dire straits they're facing today. They're staffed with amazing people doing their best in an ever worsening situation. I'll happily admit I've been on the wrong side of this system in the past. It needs vast investment and improvement.

Back in 06 when I was still a kid the NHS relied on charities in regards to mental health, most drug users barely got mental health help due to the dual diagnosis applied to drug addicts for instance.

Things have gotten worse since then, a lot worse. In this field the NHS is far too underfunded and stretched.

Getting angry won't help, though I understand the anger. Work with the NHS, point out their failings, help then improve. Both sides desire the same outcome and that I know as a fact.

I will not be clapping, nor will my schizophrenic mother who has ONCE AGAIN been deemed fit to work, sent home and attempted suicide.

I am sorry to hear about what is happening with your mother.

Great example of what happens with socialized health care, and why we do not want this in the USA.

I get that funding for mental health issues has been severely lacking from a succession of administrations across the political divide.
Its not the NHS as such that's at fault but rather the politicians who tend to treat it as a politicial hot potato or as an opportunity to further political dogma and agenda.

Funding needs to be ring fenced and it needs professional management with complete transparency with government and public oversight.

And the privatised USA private health care system is tip top, 'A' Number One, best of the best at treating the mental health issues of the American people.

I assure you my friend, I know which system I prefer.

Well if politicians and pen pushers had a clue they'd know decent investment will pay off tenfold. Just like with physical health quality investment and preventative measures saves time and money in the long run.

A person not working is paying less tax, a stressed worker or injured worker is a liability. So yeah it's always seemed backwards to me that our system is woefully slow in treatment or even diagnosis.

Mental health support and treatment costs a fortune in the US. It is subsidized, their is socialist forms of delivering it and is much more expensive.

Seemingly for the tax payer and the recipient from what I gather. I guess there's always insurance huh?
