"Currently, states and cities are crafting a pell-mell retreat away from lockdowns designed to contain the COVID-19 crisis but that have decimated growth and the jobs market. Yet, it's widely acknowledged that social distancing protocols that enforce small crowds — and require the use of face masks in public — will remain in effect."

"Already, a range of big and small businesses around the country are actively implementing the post-lockdown “new normal.” It’s become a catchphrase that has defined public discourse since COVID-19 upended societal norms, and brought the global economy to its knees."

Companies are dropping big hints about the 'new normal' once coronavirus lockdowns end

Well, well. Looks like no matter what we think, Big Corp or other has it all figured out.
Can't wait til they try to mandate orange jumpsuits and laceless slippers to go with our spit masks and social distancing. Before long, they will have stifled enough spirit and personality to break most down into forgetting what personal contact in public was like at all. The bonds of trust between humans is so very important. But, also makes it a target for abuse, as we are seeing here, IMO.
Thoughts anyone? You people cool with this?
I certainly am not.

Meh, a few armed robbers, legit customers (or accomplices) suing the business for creating an atmosphere where masked criminals can blend in will end this quickly.

That would not surprise me even in the slightest.
Don't forget mandatory checks on whomever you live with as well. Can't have any loopholes...🙄

I feel a bit guilty in thinking, "one can only hope ...", but at this point, what choices are we left with?

All that I know is,

I'm waiting for these funds to transfer from my bank account to my stock trading app and as I wait..

..I'm watching stocks shoot up by the day already and we haven't even really started opening yet.

So many industries that I couldn't begin to name them and what they do. Several trillions of dollars of stock value was lost due to the lockdowns and they will all inevitbly shoot back up. What doom porn will dissuade investors? Secondary outbreaks and re-lockdowns? I highly doubt it.

Money is more powerful than death.

In the end, money will rule.

When the bucks stop flowing they will right the ship real fast.

I, and many others, have noticed an oddity in my small town. In this town there is a menards and a home depot, menards was always packed and the home depot would have maybe 1/8th of their (much smaller) lot full even at peak hours.

Since the local menards has gone to masks required, the home depot has been significantly busier.

I've changed my personal habits and now shop at the home depot(im not wearing a mask to go into menards). I've talked to dozens of people just in the past week that have said the same("I just go to home depot now").

I'm happy for the home depot, I'm sure they are enjoying massive (high double or triple digit percent) increase in sales.

I read an article a couple days ago that mentioned companies being mandated to report people who do not return to work. The article was taking the position that some people will not leave their homes even when or if the economy opens back up due to the psychological fears and distrust. They took a poll and 3 out 10 people surveyed said they aren't going to come out right away.

I can't recall to whom they were to report to, but that gives you another taste of what's possibly coming to "a new normal" near you!

I wonder how often situations like this will arise before other, more draconian measures are taken in response? Will we allow it?

www.yahoo.com...

Seems not many in this place were living in fear.
Good for them I say.

This really does seem to be what many across the country are seeing, sure there are some small areas were people are crying for longer lockdowns. But the vast majority are just done with this nonsense.

It's the little things too. I walked into a NATIONAL chain gas station last week and saw their pastry rack full(sign said please use tongs) their ice cream machine back up and running and them serving food onsight.

I know for a fact ALL OF THAT violates the "mandate" by the local state with regard to covid restrictions.

It's heartwarming, I really am surprised. I really did think that the vast majority of people were a bunch of gutless weak simps that would kneel before the government. Everytime I see a blatant violation, it gives me hope.

In the past(years ago), I'd have said this whole thing would have went off without a hitch and idiots would serve up their freedom on a silver platter. As of late, I've changed my mind and know that I'd be far from alone in standing up in the end when the jackboots come rolling through.

They wouldn't be doing any of this without State backing.

So lets get to the meat of the bone, which is the Blue States
want to take advantage of this inflated crisis and do a big power
grab.

Shhh. Don't tell the open secret.
Pass it in private, like an std or rumor, as it was meant to be.

I might have to test that. Still haven't complied with the "mandate". Ordered take out yesterday at one of my local spots. Was one of 5 people waiting.
I was the only one without a mask. Staff had no fux to give. I recieved no dirty looks. Then a young girl came in, sans mask. She saw all the masked people and was about to turn around until I cleared my throat a bit. She looked relieved.
