The same could be said the other way.

Hard to believe it has been 75 years.

Growing up, among family or on television, one often heard names like Remagen, Colmar, the Reichswald ... and a bunch of others that weren't commonly mentioned, like Heilbronn and Hammelburg. And then the discussions would inevitably mention other names -- those of the concentration camps. The war cast quite a shadow over the world for many years.

I used to occasionally visit the war cemeteries in Europe. Very humbling experiences.
