he actual firearms list - is only just over 26 pages

and is distressingly easy to compile as there are all ready databases listing every imported firearms type - pluss all canada manufactured

so - could be done in one day

Well thank God that their ridiculous registry failed.

So, none of our guns are registered anyway.

They have no clue who has what.

Good Luck with that.

No, restricted weapons are still registered, shotguns, bolt action rifles are not registered..previously they were.

Shotguns, semi-auto, and/or bolt action were not registered. Still aren't. Restricted always have been, yes.

They scrapped the registry for non-restricted before the database was complete.

What a great time for them to introduce it - when everyone is distracted by Covid.

The reason being ""Assault Weapons"" are for assault, rather than defense.

Perhaps our generation won't need them but maybe future generations will against a totalitarian/tyrannical govt. By then the minds prob won't be around to put up a fight anyway..

These kind of bans on certain firearms is always a really good day for all criminals who own unregistered ones. It means less people can defend themselves when they use their guns for nefarious purposes.
Or does the gov think that criminals hand theirs in too?
That's not where it will end. That's just the first step. Look at us in the UK, too babyfied to even buy a knife for cooking purposes. That's also not where it ends. All it takes is a nutter abusing anything to kill others with and that will be banned too.
During these times of a novel yearly flu that is no different from others, with a very low death rate, I have seen humans behave in really inane ways. Most have no clue what is going on and everything is just a kneejerk reaction, mixed in with opportunistic banning of things they have planned to ban for a while but didn't have a good enough reason.

I'm Canadian and I am mixed about it.

I see no reason why I would need or want an AR-15 or many of those guns.

Having hunted and spent a lot of time in the woods, I see the need for a hunting rifle because that is a tool....those are thankfully still legal so we're not entirely screwed.
Other than hunting rifles, I am not really a gun nut so this doesn't bother me too much.

The problem is the government control.

Handguns are the choice of gang bangers and criminals, so crime isn't going to go down.

I am for gun rights and people being able to make the choice.....but yes, those guns are a bit much for my liking.
The part I hate is that the government keeps making more laws, instead of actually doing their jobs.

I think we should gather up a bunch of left handed safety scissors and take them to Canada to see what happens.

Oh hell now. You are going to scare the bejebus out of our Northern buddy's..

I love Canadians and I hope and pray they vote the bums out who did this like the PM and we will come to their aid if they ask in a heartbeat.

Wow, that was quick!

Are people just going to turn their guns in?

I hope so. Looks like America is going to have to introduce Canada to Freedom!!

Don't need no stinking guns, in the hands of Canadian Militia, gettin' in the way o' that!!

I have an Assault Shovel from the US Army somewhere.

My Assault Sledge Hammer needs some consideration.

Defense against a group with guns or other weapons without one of those Assault weapons is certain death most of the time you know? Ask the Yadzidi women that ISIS raped if Assault weapons would have helped them.

So if one`s AK-47 self identifies as an emotionally stable defense rifle can you still have it?

I think I'd be more worried about the moose. I hear they tend to be a bit on the territorial side.

Right next the Bison who might be only a few roaming in Canada but are 3,000 # monsters when mad.

Its a joke here, people THINK they vote.
I knew he was going to be PM years before it happened....all you have to do is read the papers and the BS "polls" they say are real.
As someone already pointed out in this thread, 80% were in favor of this, yet I don't know a single person in favor of this and not a single one of us has been asked.
Years earlier, 70% of Canadians wanted this asshole as PM.
Its bullsnip!!

Americans have the same propaganda, ours and yours just tastes different, but still get us all fat.

Yes, we already completely ignored one Gun Registry attempt.

It failed miserably and none of the guns are registered now.

The only people this helps is Criminals.

At the time, the registry collected a fair bit of info..remember the High River flood in Alberta, in 2013. The RCMP went around collecting guns, they should not of known the location of.
