I have been thinking about why there is such a political divide on reopening? I understand that people may feel different ways and thats fine. But why does it come down to someone's political alignment if they would like to leave their home or not? My thinking is that it would come down to someone's feeling of safety. I guess I am just surprised there isn;t a lot of diversity over this issue.

But I guess it also comes down to what media you are consuming as well. If all you are hearing is doom and gloom maybe you will not feel safe. and also on the flip side if you are hearing everythign is going to be okay you will feel more safe.

But it seems this issue has come down to party lines and political affliations. But would people say that they would rather be locked in their homes in beautiful spring/summer weather just President Trump will look bad? and on the other side would people that want to support Trump risk thier lives in a pandemic just to show support for Trump?

I guess I am just asking ATS memebers if they can explain why do we have such a divide on a safefy issue, and maybe even a freedom issue?

(to add a bit of humor here in Washington State it is funny how the first restriction to be eased is hiking. "Are you kidding me thats why I moved to this state was the hiking." there might have been a revolt if that restriction wasn;t eased. haha.)

No political divide here.

We MUST reopen critical services unless we are going to have food riots.

I am just in favor of those who can work from home should as our corporate employers want to pack us back into tight offices again for no good reason other than they can and think it is more efficient to work from the office.

To be blunt; the leftists in America want the close-down to continue so it'll ruin the economy.

"The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty".[1]"

Shutting America down was driven by Democrats political motivations.

So naturally they are the most resistant to reopening America again.

Generally speaking, people who are in favor of making their decisions about things, like whether or not they will go out at this point in time or open their business, tend to lean more toward a personal liberty mindset. "I wear my big girl pants and make my own decisions."

Those who favor of letting government mandate things and run programs that collectivize and run things for everyone, like having experts tell us that we'll die if it rains on us because they tested viral particles in rainwater, tend to lean more toward a less decisive mindset that likes to have choices made for them. "I don't want to be responsible for providing my healthcare and deciding when it's safe to go outside again and mingle with other people, so I will let the government decide for me and get upset when I see others disagreeing with that."

These two mindsets do tend to fall on the opposing spectrums politically at this point in time. One wants to rule themselves, and the other is more content to be ruled.

They do, but it's more important to feel safe and taken care of. Those are big, scary decisions to make, and they feel like if they get ill or someone dies, it might be their fault. Notice how they all blame those of us who are more than ready to go again and assume the risks for killing them, others, everyone?

And those poeple have record high profits out of this too.

On Tuesday, Google’s parent company Alphabet reported higher profits and revenues in the first quarter than a year before. All in all, the tech giant reported a profit of $6.8 billion. That’s an increase of nearly three percent compared to the same quarter in 2019. Revenue grew 13 percent to $41 billion. In March, Alphabet said, its advertising revenue did take a hit but that hit wasn’t as significant as many investors feared. As a result, Alphabet’s shares rose three percent in after-hours trades.

It's becoming more and more apparent that the numbers of people already exposed are far greater than the actual confirmed numbers.

Random samples of people in CA, NY, FL have shown up to 21% of people already have the antibody or tested Positive with no real illness. The vast majority of people exposed to the Wuhan will survive and Live.

It's just a matter of time till we hit Herd Immunity.

But you put your hope in a vaccine 10 months from now......I'm sure you won't starve or become bankrupt.

We need to open back up while protecting those most at risk of death by the Wuhan as best as possible.

It can be done.

$600 a week on top of standard unemployment checks probably makes them quite satisfied to sit around supporting getting paid for doing nothing while their political overlords destroy the economy and lay out the gameplan for future (permanent) removal of rights the left find "inconvenient."

There was a report that they tested all the workers at a local meat packing plant. They came up with 126 new cases. 96 of them were asymptomatic.

So with numbers like that, it's very likely that this is all over and more of us than know have already had it. Maybe even some of those freaking out about it the hardest.

It's coming from those of us still working and paying taxes and from our children when they enter the workforce and see staggering new tax rates to pay for the massive increase in federal debts over all of this. It's ridiculous... the same government stooges who shut everything down and forced millions out of their jobs for zero defensible reasons are the government stooges giving additional dowry payments to those newly jobless to avoid being called on their BS. They invented a problem, applied a solution to the invented problem, and in the process that solution raises a whole cadre of new problems creating a lovely chain of job security for the politicians who support socialism and overtaxation of anyone still working.

I got laid off from my job for 3 days because the governor of pa threatened non essential businesses if they did not shut down they would incur action from police and other “entities”. So my company shut down 3 days to make sure we are essential. I am a welder and machinist and we make a lot of # for the food industry, pharmaceutical, DOD, medical, and the energy sector. I work for a small shop only 21 people, I was denied my 3 day unemployment claim. 3 days for me is a 36 hour work week. The gov f u c j’ed me, I’m a former Usmc 0311 4 tours I didn’t get a stimulus. I don’t want there help but it’s forced down my throat. I worked through this # making things for people for my company and still get it hard. I’m sure lots of folks are like me but when do we get a chance to say enough enough, wearing a bandana and painter mask isn’t the same thing as mopp level 4. It’s crazy.

Some people don't understand the depth of ruin ruin the global economy is in. They see the artificially inflated stock market and think it's not so bad.

There is nothing left to ruin my friend, that ship has sailed.

I think it was a Republican president that declared a national emergency.

But, maybe he is still a Democrat?
