Christopher Steele told a British court last month [March 2020] that he no longer has documents and other information from his meetings with the main source for his Trump dossier, suggesting that the former British spy has no way of backing up his side in a dispute with the Justice Department’s inspector general (IG), according to a deposition transcript obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Steele also told the court that his communications regarding the dossier, including with Fusion GPS, were “wiped” in December 2016 and January 2017, the transcript shows.

So, Steele hosed his computer right after Trump won the election. We know now that his sources were Russian intelligence, running a campaign to destabilize the US election. I guess the only question remaining is how much did Steele know about that? Was he just a useful idiot, or was he actively working as an enemy of the US?

Well, let's see.... He was being paid by the FBI, so he was actively working for the FBI.... as an enemy of Trump, at the very least.

There is a technical answer to this, but I suspect you're just having some fun.

The emails may not exist on his personal computer, what they exist somewhere. They never go away.

They are still out there somewhere and he knows where. Probably a memory stick locked away in a vault somewhere.

Google and Google Mail keeps everything.

I suspect there were no contacts and he fabricated the entire thing out of his mind. There is nothing on his computers or emails because there were never any sources. He was not going to spend money traveling and paying people. He was tasked to write this thing and get paid and that's what he did. Willing to bet he has done it before. Start digging into his gigs over the years. There will be a pattern of the same.

Not a very strong defense for a defamation suit.

If this is all Mr. Steele has to offer, he's facing a very negative net profit from this endeavor.

This thread is quiet. Where are all the people who flooded dossier threads claiming that nothing in it had been debunked and it was real? So typical of those people - they've abandoned this 'gotcha' and moved on to the next one and seem to have no shame no matter how many times they end up being wrong or being shown up for being partisan hacks.

What about all his other client records? Maybe this is what he does with all his jobs if confidentiality is part of the deal.

This is how the Left has eaten itself. They're so radically progressive that anyone even 1mm to the right of them gets outcast and banished. In this case, its another smoke-show, and if you challenge the lack-of-evidence, you still get banished.
