Governor Newsome didn't want Michigan to be the only state in the news for epic lunacy and announced a public/private fund for illegal immigrants. From the Fox news article:

“We feel a deep sense of gratitude for people that are in fear of deportations that are still addressing essential needs of tens of millions of Californians,” said Newsom, a Democrat, who noted 10 percent of the state's workforce consisted of immigrants living in the country illegally who paid over $2.5 billion in state and local taxes last year.

Taxpayers would be kicking in $75 million for the money, while a group of charities has committed to raise another $50 million for a total of $125 million. A group of charities already has donated $5.5 million for the fund, including the Emerson Collective, Blue Shield of California Foundation, the California Endowment, the James Irvine Foundation, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and an anonymous donor.

Newsom said the money will not be distributed based on income. “Their personal information will not be required to get those support,” he added.

I have no problem with charitable giving and if one chooses to donate money they can do it for whatever cause they wish. Tax funds should not be going toward a direct payment to people in the country illegally. If California is able to fund this then I don't think they need to be subsidized by Uncle Sam for corona relief. The burden on healthcare from illegal immigrants, who are encouraged by liberal policies like this, is tremendous. Encouraging illegal immigration while fighting overburdened hospitals is ridiculous.

He feels a deep sense of gratitude for those here illegally and working through this pandemic while millions of legal residents are out of work. It's sad that his behavior is not unexpected or unique anymore. These policies encourage more illegal immigration and because illegal immigrants have no documents, and no personal information is required for this payout, it's a perfect opportunity for fraud. I wonder how many family members, friends, and non-existent illegal immigrants will be coming forward to claim a check from across the SW US. It's a short trip from many states so get the bus ready and charge $100 a head. Leave your ID at home and be in bed that night with $400 in free money.

This isn’t from taxes. They’re literally creating money from thin air and pumping it into the economy. Devaluing the dollar by doing so.

That $1 soda will be $3.99 in 5 years. We’re straight up going Weimar Republic 2.0. It’s worse than using your tax dollars.

No matter where it comes from it's tax dollars, today or tomorrow, unless it's privately funded. At this point the lines are so blurred you may be right. Just 1s, 0s, and a printing press. Maybe they figure if they make enough there will be no choice except some kind of reset. Maybe it's already there.

It's like the government kiting checks but your kids will be the ones in debt jail.

If the state of California wants to use their state income taxes for paying these people money I see no problem. If they are going to spend one cent of Federal money, then they should not get ANY Federal money since they are not using it appropriately. I know that they will shuffle money around and use Federal funds, redirected from their intended purpose that they were given for.

If they spend state taxes on this do you think they'll cut $75 million somewhere else or just use the bailout money to cover it?

Either way it's causing $75 million federal dollars to be spent. No citizen should be on the hook for 50 years of interest for money paid to an illegal resident. It's not even the amount of money that's the issue. The issue is what it's being used for and the fact that we're already hemorrhaging money we don't have.

If they are out of work, then give them a small amount of money so they don't starve. Half of the illegal aliens work for cash for small contractors, they do not pay taxes. I know what it is like in California, it is like that in some other states too. It is not limited to illegal immigrants either, some people work for cash and make a decent living and never pay a cent in taxes, it doesn't make any difference what sex or color they are. Citizens do that, and they even collect assistance from the government and work for cash somewhere, making really good money when you figure in they have free housing. I see that happening around here.

List the countries that do not have a FIAT national currency.

Currently all national currencies are fiat currencies. The last currency with any legal link to gold was the Swiss Franc, which was backed by a minimum of 40% of gold, until a 2000 referendum severed the link.

We have bigger issues than $25 million to illegal immigrants.

A lot bigger issues.

And they involve really, really rich

WHITE AMERICANS

Well we can finally agree. The $75 million is really nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The problem is really, really rich white Americans like GAVIN NEWSOM spending money that doesn't belong to him.

The person still living in CA is a moron. Anyone running a business in CA is King of the morons.

And how are they going to get that money to the Foreign Nationals illegally here? They can't track them with SSNs. Will those illegally here just show up and get a check? How will they make sure the same person doesn't just change clothes and go back for more?
What stops a US citizen from claiming to be a Foreign National here illegally?

Sounds like the gun-buy-back debacle all over again.

Emphasized. California does NOT create any money. The state is over 500 billion in debt.

Sooo they plan to just air drop blank checks over densely populated illegal immigrant areas? Because that's about what it will take to give UNDOCUMENTED people free monies...

California is like a barometer for what NOT to do. If we as a nation just did the opposite of what California does in a policy and ideology sense the nation would flourish.

Just print checks and send them to the recipient's legal home address. Make it illegal to forward back to the US.
